B+W filters were recommended for quality at the Canon photography class I took, in particular the slim/thin versions which reduce the risk of vignetting. The downside to the slim version is that it is not threaded on the outer side, so 1) you can't add a filter on top of it, and 2) your regular lens cap won't work. It comes with its own lens cap that works well but has a tendency to fall off, so you'll want to buy one of those tethers that sticks onto the lens cap with adhesive and attaches to your lens with elastic.

The slim mount filter is great for very wide angle lenses as I do not get vignetting from the filter. However the slim mount does not allow me to attach extra filters. I usually use Singh Ray filters, but I am unable to attach the filter holder.

Perfectly clear glass on a very slim mount. Very easy to screw in place, a real bonus.
