This filter is perfect for its purpose. It will let you take 5 to 10 second exposures even in broad daylight. Since there is no perfectly clear ND glass, a color cast is to be expected; but in my experience that is easily corrected in post-production. I cannot stress enough how well built this filter is. I also own the 52mm version, which took a fall of about 5 feet to a tile floor in the front of my D40x with kit lens with just a slight bend to the rim. The 77mm has taken salt water spray and sand without a scratch.

If you are looking to buy this filter, you know what it is capable of. It is relatively easy to use and is extremely strong. Note that it will make your photos a little warmer than an equivalent expose without the filter. I like this effect.

B+W out did themselves with this one. It is beautifully constructed and is overall just a great filter.

This is a fun filter. I use it to get 3-5 minute exposures in bright daylight to get smooth water or streaking clouds. The two problems I had were minor. One, you can't focus because it's too dark (I knew that when getting it), the only downside of that is having to unscrew it, focus, and rescrew it. Second is I didn't know I cannot set my own white balance without getting a color cast. Needs to be in Auto WB to not get a color cast. Glad I shoot in RAW. Other then those two minor problems, I get great fun images from this filter. Definitely worth the money.

If you want to take Long Exposure shots during the day, this could be one of your option. It may not be a multi coated filter, but it does its job.

Great filter. Clear optics, very well made. Favorite filter to use in daytime long exposures.

I have used ND filters for water and sky images for years, and the B&W filters are simply the best! Helps avoid small apertures, which lead to quality loss due to diffraction.

• Neutral Density filters evenly reduce the amount of light passing thru the lens without effecting color.
• Ideal for reducing bright light in large aperture situations when a narrow depth is field is needed.
• Allows for slower shutter speeds when blurring or showing of movement is desired.
• Allows balancing of exposure to highlight a key subject.
• Lets you use higher speed films in bright light.
• B&W Neutral Density filters are available in most sizes and in the following strengths:
• .3 (2x) Reduces the light one f-stop.
• .6 (4x) Reduces the light two f-stops.
• .9 (8x) Reduces the light three f-stops.
• 1.8 (64x) Reduces the light six f-stops
• 3.0 (ten f-stops) & 4.0 (seventeen f-stops) are for astronomical and sun studies.
