Used for day light photography The construction is great, very solid and a lens cap will fit onto this slim style filter. The supplies B+W plastic filter container is cheap and cheesy in the security and its iffyness when you think it has snaped closed.

I've done a lot of research on filters, and they are just another example where "you get what you pay for." I am super pleased with B+W filters, all are excellent and they offer grades of quality that match all needs and preferences. This filter and my other B+W's DELIVER as PROMISED!

The B + W 77mm XS-Pro Digital MRC Nano Kaeseman Circular Polarizing Filter is constructed from select polarizer foils and especially prepared optical glass. Kaeseman ("encased") filters are completely edge-sealed for maximum durability under extreme climatic conditions. XS-Pro filters are extra thin for use with ultra wide angle lenses, yet, they retain their front threads. B + W's MC Nano coating takes filter production to a new level. It features 7-layers of anti-reflection coating as well as improved cleaning capabilities. Water droplets will bead up better and be easier to remove from the filter. This filter is also scratch-resistant.
Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and varied by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.
If you're out walking on a lovely day - in the mountains or at the beach - and you want to get a fabulous shot of a cloud-filled sky or make the water seem more saturated, then a polarizer is the way to go. This filter is the best way to make the clouds stand out, increase or decrease the saturation of the ocean or increase or decrease the reflection off the water. You can also use this filter when shooting into glass or windows since it will, again, either increase or decrease reflections.
If you're shooting black and white and want to simulate a threatening storm, try throwing on a #25 Red filter. The vista will take on the appearance of an imminent, ominous storm. Along with a UV or Skylight Filter, a polarizing filter should be a part of everyone's gear bag. It can turn a run-of-the-mill image into a stunning, creative photo by increasing color saturation.
XS-Pro Extra-Slim
Provides extra-slim mounting rings that eliminate problems associated with SLR wide-angle and telephoto imaging. This mount is especially suited for DSLRs with wide angle lenses. This mount will avoid vignetting with most 17mm lenses on a full frame body. Some report success with lenses as wide as 16mm. It has a front thread for additional accessories such as lens caps or hoods. All XS-Pro Digital mounts are made of brass and are matte black to prevent reflections. Only UV, Clear, and Käsemann Circular Polarizers are offered in this mount, with the latest MRC nano coating.
Always Shoot a test to confirm with your equipment.
Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) with Nano Technology
The nano coating is an outer layer of protection that comes standard with all XS-Pro Digital MRC filters. The nanotechnology based characteristic (lotus effect) produces a better beading effect with water making the cleaning of this filter even simpler and faster than ever before. MRC nano has an improved outer (8th) layer over regular MRC.
MRC by B+W is not only an extraordinarily effective multiple layer coating, it is also harder than glass, so that it protects filters from scratches (for instance when cleaning the filters), and it is also water and dirt repellent, thus facilitating filter maintenance.
