Great product and great services by Adorama. I wasn?t able to pick the item up myself but was able to send a friend to pick it up on my behalf and this made things so convenient. Great people, would definitely shop again!

Don't trust your filters to just any step up ring. Cheaper ones will bind and the threads will wear. Go with B&W, a quality product.

The adapter does exactly what it is supposed to do. The filter does not spin off easily, but who would want it to fall off easily? In cold weather I find it easier to take the filter and adapter off the camera lens and let warm up then hold the threads slightly pulling away from filter and it unscrews easily.

Does exactly what it's supposed to. Thin enough not to vignette on my 18-200mm DX lens at 18mm.

Having this step up ring enables me to use one set of filters with my Nikon lenses. Definitely the way to go to keep equipment costs and weight to a minimum.

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS ADAPTER RING. This adapter ring does an excellent job at adapting a filter to your lens with a short stack height; however, this thin construction has a significant consequence - filters easily get stuck on this adapter ring. I connected a Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizer HD Hardened Glass 8-layer Multi-Coated Filter to this adapter and on the second time, the filter is permanently stuck on this adapter ring. I have tried several methods to separate the items to no avail (i.e. filter wrenches, etc.) I knew not to over completely tighten any filter to this ring and careful to not cross thread filters; however, this did not stop a filter to get frozen on this adapter. There are several other cheaper adapters that are a much easier to use and more reliable. I would STRONGLY suggest buying a different adapter ring such as a Promaster adapter ring.

This is a great product if you have lenses with different size threads and you cannot afford to buy filters for all your lenses. With this product, you only need to buy screw-in filters for your largest lenses, then use this step-down ring to adapt them to smaller threads. The threads are really fine, so be careful to ensure that you dont cross thread it. Other than that, no other special considerations.

Use this every day without problem. Would not buy anything cheaper and risk damage to lens or filters.

I was easily able to swap a filter from a 77mm lens to a 72mm lens. The only thing that worries me is that the adapter ring doesn't feel very solid; I am afraid that I might accidentally crack it in half some day if I squeeze it too tightly. It currently does its job well and I'm pleased with the purchase!

First of all, don't forget to order another 77mm lens cap! The obvious use for this adapter is to put your 77mm filters on your 72mm lens (like my Nikon 18-200mm zoom), and then you'll realize that you need a 77mm lens cap for your former 72mm lens. Adorama, please put a note in the product description to this effect... I'm sure there are a lot more dummies like me out there. This is a very high-quality adapter (typical of B+W, I would say), but for some reason my Nikon 77mm circular polarizer was somewhat difficult to remove. A couple of tiny dabs of silicone lube solved the problem very easily, and now everything is as smooth as silk.

Threads are good, they neever cross. Solid mount. But, it eassyly gets stuck when trying to remove a polarizing or ND filter, you have to tap it on the side to get it loose. The problem is that the side grip extends to the front and it would not let go the larger filter attached.

With the step-up adapter I am able to buy one size of filter instead of multiple filters to fit each lens.

Allows me to use my filters and ExpoDisk on my other lenses. Works great! Saved me a chunk of change on new filters.

I have used this step up ring several times now photographing sun rise / sets on the Outer Banks inconjunction with a 77mm graduated neutral density filter. It has performed wonderfully. Out of the 30+ times I have installed / removed the ring, not once have I had trouble in doing so. Now its time to try it on the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Used this to step up to standard professional size 77 mm filters and have not looked back. Very strong construction.

Sometimes a little difficult to get the threads to match up with those on the lens - you need to attach it slowly and carefully - otherwise, works just as it's supposed to.

What you pay for, you get. It's as simple as that. This is a very well constructed brass step-up ring, perfect for putting on some of Nikon's oddly-sized lenses, like the 18-200VR to step up to normal, pro filter sizes like 77mm. I've got a Heliopan UV filter mounted to mine, and I have no trouble separating them whatsoever. I can't recommend this step-up ring enough.

I bought this and used it with the 77mm Nikon cir pol filter and I couldnt separate them when I wanted to take it apart. I Tried it with a Hoya ND filter and same thing even though I tried to keep it loose. I am afraid to attach anything to it because it takes forever to get them apart.

As everybody knows, B+W products are very good. This one is very good, but it is too expensive for what it is. I like german products (I used to work for Germany), they are of very high quality, but again, this one is too expensive. I also bought a standard no-name (or Adorama) adapter for 3 times less money, and they're virtually the same. I would've expected the B+W adapter to be a little heavier, which would made me believe it's made of a better alloy. But it's not. Not to say the Adorama one, is thinner!!! :) The ONLY really good thing about the B+W adapter is the black coating which is very-very matte and very light-absorbing. Absolutely no reflection. But still, I don't think this pays for almost 3 times the money. Do you care if this adapter comes in a nice plastic box with a fine double layer foam inside, and all this in a shiny cardboard nicely cut and printed? If yes, buy it and make sure you'll attach the box to the adapter. Otherwise, I suggest you look at similar products before buying this one. Update: I mounted a Hoya Pro1 UV filter on this adapter, and there it is. Forever! I guess I need either special tools or special prayers before separating them.

I followed Ken Rockwell's advice and received exactly what was promised--a metal, high-quality, step-up ring that functions flawlessly!

I did not want a weird filter size, which probably won't fit most of my lens's, this allows me to use the popular 77mm filter on my 18-200vr Nikon lens...works great

I bought this to use a standard (for other Nikon lenses) 77mm Circular Polarizer on the 72mm threads on the Nikon 18-200 VR lens. This adapter provides a solid mount to both camera and filter I don't seem to be getting any vignetting at the wide end. With a thin circ polarizer I had to use rubber bands on both the ring and filter to separate the two, but otherwise everything is great.

For Nikon 35mm owners, 77mm is the standard fliter thread size for many of their pro quality lenses. I bought this step ring to go on the Nikon 18-200 VR which is oddly a 72mm filter size. I do not want to spend the money, or carry around a full compliment of 72mm filters just for one lens. The majority of the lenes I own have 77mm filter treads and this step up ring allows me to only carry I set of 77mm filters. The step up ring is good quality, theads on easily and stay on the lens firmly. I am not getting any vignetting when the step up ring is used in conjuction with a 77mm polarizer or 77mm Cokin P holder and Singh Ray ND grads. This works perfectly. Bravo.

Stepped up my Nikon 18-200 from 72 to 77 to prevent vignetting as much as possible.

The B+W 72-77mm Step-Down Ring permits the use of 77mm threaded filters on lenses with 72mm filter threads. It features a lightweight, aluminum-alloy construction that has a corrosion-resistant, black anodized finish for durability. This step-up ring has side knurling to provide a more textured grip when mounting or removing it from a lens.
