About Canon 24-105mm

• This easy-to-use standard zoom lens can cover a large zoom area ranging from 24mm wide-angle to 105mm portrait-length telephoto, and its Image Stabilizer Technology steadies camera shake up to three stops. Moreover, with dust- and moisture-resistant construction, this is a durable yet sophisticated lens that meets the demands of advanced amateur photographers and professional photographers alike.

Best all around lens

Great overall lens. I used ir on European vacation and got great photos. Preciously had 400 mm zoom and 28mm. This was a great lens to use for family events, proms, potraits and scenery. It was recommended by a knowledgeable photo enthusiast and it has served me well for many purposes. it is a bit bulky and heavy.

Good wide range kit lens

By

from Baton Rouge, LA

This lens came with the 5diii I purchased right before a trip to Puerto Rico. I also brought the 50mm1.2 and 70-200mm2.8 ii and out of the three for that particular trip the 24-105 spent the most time on the camera as being the most versatile. So far I have no complaints about the lens and will be definitely bringing it with me on future trips as an all around travel lens. The size and weight are not bad. it took a little punishment in the rain forest(rain) and some more at the beaches in the form of sand completely unharmed. Overall I beleive it will be a good lens.

Almost the perfect general purpose lens

By

from Kentucky

The build quality and zoom range are excellent and the focusing is spot-on. My only real complaint, other than wishing it was a 2.8, is that the images are not quite as sharp as I would like. Don't get me wrong, the images it produces are very good to great, but I would not rate them as excellent. That being said, unless you are a professional photographer who demands the absolute sharpest images, this lens will do nicely. For this zoom range I have not found a better lens.

Best walk around lens I've had

By

from Portland, Or

This lens is why I am shooting full frame (5DII) as well as crop (7D0. Very good performance, with filter on, is nearly waterproof. Great for shooting coast scenics in the winter, snow in winter, Portland gardens in the rain, etc Mt Hood, St. Helens. For backpacking, much lighter than f2.8 24-70 and more reach. I pair it with f.4 70-200L is. Also good for portraits because of f4.

Great L Lens from Canon

By

from Greensboro, NC  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I lucked up and found this lens in the used department in perfect condition. This a great zoom lens, there's a reason it's the kit lens on the newer 5 D's. It's a sharp lens, not a 2.8, but at a maximum aperture of 4 it's still great. Arguably a better lens than the 24 - 70, this lens has Image Stabilization, which is a big plus. Quick autofocus, nice build quality, you won't be disappointed.

My favorite walk around lens

By

from Arcata, Ca

My second purchase of this lens as the first one was stolen from me. That sentence should tell you how I feel about this lens. I bought this one with the 5DmkIII kit but would have bought the lens separately if it was not available as a kit lens. Make NO bones about it, people have a bad preconception of most kit lenses, that is not the case with this lens, it is after all an "L" lens for a reason The 24-105f4L is USM is my all time favorite walk around lens.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  what " white box " means ?
JASON M  White box = lens included in a kit, but separated and sold separately. Same lens, same warranty but the box has no markings.
Shopper  Where is this lens made?
STEFAN K  My lens says "Made in Japan", but so does any other of my Canon lenses, whether it came in a white or red/white (CanonUSA) box...
Tom t  Is this Lens new? If so why is it priced $300.00 less than others? Sounds fishy to me..what gives?
BRIAN K  As an end-user, I am unable to "certify" the history prior to my receipt. Only the staff at Adorama can answer that question. That said, the EF 24-105 "white box" I purchased arrived in mint condition - did it appear and function as I would expect from a new lens? Absolutely. If someone were to place two otherwise identical lenses in front of me - (with the only difference being the packaging) - I do not believe I would be able to tell the difference. No fish detected here - you can purchase with a high degree of confidence.
