This flash unit is perfect simple for indoor photography where interior lighting is just on the cusp of needing a flash and not - in such cases the larger Speedlite 470EX can be overpowering.

Just like new. Worked right out of the box on my EOS-R body.

Nice, Compact, Easy to Use Flash that can fit in my pocket for basic flash photography when needed. It can also adapt for use in a multi flash set up. There is no excuse to be at a photo session without it.

Excellent little speedlite works great I use all the time now, when i need to use a little pop of flash instead of my other much larger speedlites.

I purchased the flash for my full frame camera in the event I may need a little lighting like fill flash and I was very surprise at the output for such a small flash. Also the flash fits along side the camera because it is compact.

I purchased this flash due to the size for my full frame camera and I was pleased with the results. The flash is powerful yet compact.

This is the third refurbished item from Canon & it works perfectly!! Can not tell it’s refurbished. Love that it’s compact & light weight. Doesn’t throw off the balance of my camera, like some if the bigger, regular sized external flashes.

I got this for traveling and pair it to my Canon 6D (that doesn't have a on board flash, I don't know why but Nikon D600 series does . This flash is very light and small (that's good), powerful enough for fill flash, it exposes properly. If that is what you need this is your ticket. Now the bad is that is super slow, too slow even with fresh batteries, it also eats the batteries very fast too. My unit seems to not follow my Flash Exposure Compensation for some reason looks like its like its exposing at cero exposure compensation, while is a proper exposure is always brighter than I want it to be. In my opinion a 430EXII is a better options, yes is more expensive and bigger and heavier but a better overall flash in every way. But, if you want a little flash fill and not so expensive this works

This is a very useful unit for, as it states, a slave and small speed light. It is outstanding for hand held fill however, this only works with onboard flash systems or with a speed light that has slave electronics. With the 7D and the pop up flash set for a slave it works as a fill or main light hand held very well. However, with a 5D one would need a 580 EX II or 600EX II slave set up. All in all it is a good unit for a TTL flash when you need one that does not take up much room in the bag.

Small, Portable, works off-camera and has enough power for my needs. Much better results compared to on-board fill flash on the camera.

This is the perfect travel flash for a pro camera with no built in flash. Great for fill in light and the tilt head adds lighting options. Please with this purchase and would recommend. Not suitable for main flash as capabilities are limited. Great product for me.

I bought another brand and was not happy. I thought I could save money but I purchased the Canon Speedlight 270 EX II and I could not be happier. This flash compliments my Canton SL 1 I recently purchased.

I bought this to go on my EOS M a few years ago as opposed to the tiny 90 EX. I wanted something small but not that small. The head tilts up to bounce and manually zooms (pull it out) for telephoto. It can be used as a slave and remote shutter trigger too. Recycle time isn't too bad considering it uses two AA batteries. Generally faster than the built in flash. Very good build quality. For the size and price this is a pretty good flash but don't expect performance of a 580 EX II or 600 EX out of it.

I've owned a 30D, 7D and now a 5D MkIII. I loved the pop-up flash on my two cropped sensor Canon's, but wanted a the full sensor Canon. Unfortunately apparently Canon believes that if you buy something more expensive/sophisticated than a cropped sensor body, you will be using a flash from your hot shoe or some other type of artificial lighting. I loved the pop-up as a fill in flash; I have three Canon flashes for more light/situations. The only choice was this small flash. The pro's are that it is well built and works with my other Canon flashes as a slave. The con's are that it requires batteries (I know, so do my other flashes, but I'm using this just for fill in situations). And also that it's output is somewhat less.

This is a good flash for the money. I don't want to lug around my 580exii its small enough to fit into a bag but just powerful enough to shoot 6 to 8 feet across the room It will also aim up for bounce flash. But it you won't be sorry

Just enough flash but not too bright if that makes sense. Doesn't make your subjects washed out or overly bright. Small, compact, not too heavy and easy to pack around with the rest of my camera equipment. Highly recommend. Lot of bang for the buck. Do yourself a favor and skip the big money items, this one works great!

I have several Canon Speedlight 580ex ii flashes that I use with other larger Canon cameras but was looking for something small and portable to match my new (small) SL1. This flash is the perfect size to include in the bag with my SL1. It takes up very little space and does a great job of providing lighting for the quick "on-the-go" shots I take with this camera. The SL1 is my new take with me camera (previously had a G11 to carry around but wanted to be able to capture all the shots, which I was not always able to get with the G11) and the flash is a perfect addition. It's just the right amount of power with a great price to match.

If you've moved up to a camera with a 35mm film sized sensor, and you miss the pop-up flash that Canon somehow thinks you are now too "pro" to have any use for, this handy little flash will fill that void and then some. It is small enough to easily slip into a pocket. And it's also a bit stronger than a pop-up. Additionally, you can tilt the direction of the flash toward the ceiling for bounced light. You can also easily find a plastic diffusing "cap" to place over the flash head for softer light. I just took living room pictures on Christmas with a plastic cap diffuser and it offered a pleasant soft light that filled a wide angle view and was still more than strong enough for proper exposure. The two AA batteries don't last as long as I would like but that is a minor inconvenience.

Flash takes too long to warm up. With fresh batteries it takes abot 15 seconds for the red light to turn on. Too slow in my opinion.

Needed something small and unobtrusive for street work with my G12. this works. A bonus is I can use it as a slave with my DSLR kit.

Useful and Lightweight
By undrgnd40
I use this for fill flash on indoor portraits. It's useful as a slave unit as well. I like the small size and light weight of this product. My camera body can wirelessly control this flash, which eliminates the need for an extension cable for close up and creative lighting. Also, this flash can remotely control the shutter on my camera. This speedlite is a good addition to my equipment and I'm very happy with it.
nice fill in flash
By Alexei
I bought this flash as a fill in flash for travel. I do not use flash a lot - my Canon 5D Mark III has very high ISO range. But sometimes it helps. The build is solid, the control is simple. In case of Mark III you can fully control the flash from the camera - put in manual mode (1-1/64), slow sync, etc. Most of the typical features for Speedlight flash. Another feature I found useful I can use this flash as a remote control for my camera. So if I am shooting from a tripod I don't need to car...
