Questions & Answers

AARON C : Will this work on a Canon 5d?CRAIG F : It should work with no problem.JACK C : Yes it will work on a Canon 5dJIM C : Yes it will work on the 5d and any of the EOS cameras good small flash, distance 105 feet NO.LARRY C : Unknown, I own the T3I, but it is a Canon. I checked with Canon and they say it will work.
MALCOLM R : Does this 320-EX work as a slave using the pop-up flash on a 650D (pop-up set to EasyWireless so the pop-up doesn't flash bright enough to the seen in the photo)?TRUNG D : Hi Malcolm, I don't have the 650d, but I believe it does work. The 320ex can be used as a slave unit. I think you you can either use both the 320ex and the popup flash to light the scene, or use only the 320ex as slave to light the scene and the popup to send signal to the slave unit. Check your camera manual under the flash section. This is how my 60d works. I hope it helps.JORGE M : The times I have used this feature with my 60D, it has never been an issue, but I've been at least 10 feet from the subject.FS Taller D : Yes, it works as a slave.JOHN M : Small and portable, much more light output than the pop-up flash. Very useful and accurate. Swivels and bounces nicely. Nowhere near as powerful as the big dog. Not for studio use.
BERNARD K : Can the 320EX be used as an off camera slave flash for the 60D and other Canon SLRs?FS Taller D : Yes, it can be used with the 60D (and other Canon cameras) as an off camara slave flash (Canon wireless TTL). Only in TTL mode (it does not have a manual mode).BERNARD K : OK = I HAVE ENOUGH ANSWERS, BERNARDBERNARD K : Thanks to all. I have enough answers now. I like the idea of the light for video shooting. I have a 40D (won't use it anymore), 50D, and now a very good condition used 60D. Looks like this will be a good flash for on camera and off camera shooting.GLENN S : I Am not sure. I believe so.JORGE M : Yes the 320EX can be controled wirelessly from a Canon 60D's pop up flash, TTL and manually. It can also be controlled by shoe mounted flashes such as the 90EX and the 580EX. The 320EX can also trigger the shutter on the 60D remotely. Just keep in mind that the flash control and remote trigger both have about a 30 foot range and work line of sight only, they will not work through walls or objects.JOHN M : There is a slave setting on the switch, but honestly this is more of a portable, travel unit. It suits me fine, plenty of light and compact. But if you want the lighting of a master / slave setup you probably want the big dog, not the travel unit.RONALD P : Go to Canon's website and checkout drivers and support or vice verse. They have PDF files for using the flash for different subjects. I can't post the link, Adorama's policy.J.P. L : I use a 50D and 40D with a 320EX on the camera and a second 320EX as a slave triggered via a transmitter ST-E2 mounted under the main flash on the camera. Works well. So, I suppose it should work with a 60D as well.MANUEL D : I use for my canon D 70 I do not know if it works with the D60 I can tell you that with my camera works greatDOMINGO S : Yes it is compatible with any canon SLR .

Great choice

I like the quick recycling and the video light feature. I also like the fact that the skin tones are of great quality with this flash. My prior flash is more powerful, however I didn't need that much power and faces were more overexposed causing me to have to change settings frequently. This flash is great the way it is. I also noticed that the batteries last longer and there are hardly any missed flashes like my other model. The only negative would be that sometimes it takes pre-flashes which is old school since people's eyes are fine on the first flash usually. Plus it changes the expression to something less desirable since the subjects thought the photo was already taken. However, sometimes it doesn't do this so then it's perfect. I haven't figured out yet how to turn that feature on and off.

Just what I needed

I am usually the guy that has to have the top of the line. But in this instance I reined myself in and glad I did. This flash works perfectly for what I needed it for. Just did the Bridal shower and am leading up to the rehearsal dinner and then The bride and attendents getting ready. So far just what I needed and am very happy with the whole experience. Adorama and Canon what else could a guy need.

good can be even better

To complement the new gen of DSLRs we need more flexible flashes. This is a good step in that direction, and I'd like to see more from Canon and others.

Canon Speedlite

Purchased this to use with my wide angle lens which caused a shadow on my photos when using the pop up flash attachment. So far, it is doing exactly what I bought it for and I am thrilled to have one less complication in my novice learning process with my Canon Rebel T3i.

Love it so far

I did a photo shoot yesterday with the flash, using the rechargeable batteries and bracket that came with the flash. I did studio and outdoor shots and it functioned perfectly in both settings. As an added bonus the bracket made it easier to remove the camera from the not very great tripod I use as we headed outdoors. What a difference an adjustable flash makes in image quality. Sometimes you regret a purchase but not this time...I love it so far. I have not used the hood that came with it but I'll give that a try on my next shoot.

Flash Works Perfectly for my uses

I purchased this Canon Speedlite "refurbished by Canon" from Adorama. The package arrived with all the parts and perfectly in order. I have purchased used from Adorama before, and trust their site. I purchased the 320EX because of the smaller size and lighter weight. It does not bother me that the range of flash is not as broad as the 430EX. So far, I am thrilled with results from this flash. Just what I wanted, a softer flash for photos of people. I am primarily a party photographer, and I really appreciate that this camera does not flash harshly on faces. The camera is easy to attach to the camera, just one lever to push, rather than a screw to run. Surprising how that makes a difference. I had a question about Canon camera settings with this flash; I called Canon and was immediately connected and given understandable directions.

Disappointed

I don't really like this flash....first it does the pulsating pre flash which is noisy and distracting especially at weddings. Secondly, it doesn't seem to have much battery life. I am going to keep playing with it to see if I can get some of the settings changed but so far what I have read...it is the way it is...

Product is as advertised

For my applications, the Canon Speedlite 320EX Flash does the job. The unit puts out plenty of light. The cycle time is decent. The head assembly can be rotated 180 degrees, a very useful feature. The only problem is that you can not turn off the front LED light in the slave mode. The blinking light is a distraction.

Best Overall, Economy, Flash for from Canon. The distinguishing feature is the fill light for Videos which is not found in Canon flashes in this price category.

Good Flash

Was pleased with the ease of use and compatibilty with my T4i, wish there was more manual abilities. Otherwise, what sets this flash apart is the fill video light which is very useful in short video interviews, etc.

I have just started using this product. I find it to be a very good value for the price. It does not have the settings that the higher price speed lights have but for starting out I am very pleased.

430 EX II is better

The LED focus assistant light only works for movie shooting or live view focus which uses slow contrast focus. If LED is not a necessary feature to you. Please add $30 more to buy 430 EX II. It's better in every way except LED. I bought this one only because Adorama has it on sale.

Flash means less time editing

Have used it primarily for portraits and it's worth the [$]. It recycles pretty fast and fills in the shadows well. It eventually saves time with the editing aspect since more pictures are almost perfect. I do wish they will eventually invent a flash that's not so bulky and heavy.

The Canon's Speedlite 320EX is a versatile flash that includes an LED light on the front that can be used as a modeling light, an AF assist beam during Live View shooting, or to light up nearby subjects in low light for video recording. It will provide up to 4 hours of continuous lighting with fully-charged AA batteries. The 320EX is E-TTL- and E-TTL II-compatible using Type-A EOS cameras and it has a guide number of 78.7'/24m @100 ISO at 24mm.

Vertical and horizontal bounce capability gives you more lighting options, as does the Wireless Slave function that supports 3 groups and 4 channels, allowing the flash to be used off camera. You can vary the flash coverage and guide number by manually extending or retracting the flash head, using the Normal or Tele positions. The 320EX operates on widely available AA batteries. Batteries are not included.
