About Canon 320-EX

In a first for Canon Speedlites, the versatile new Speedlite 320EX features an LED light on the front of the flash body that can be used to illuminate nearby subjects in dim light. The light is ideal for video recording but can also be used as a modeling light or as an AF assist beam during Live View shooting. When used with EOS DSLRs that have integrated Speedlite transmitters, the Speedlite 320EX can be used as a wireless slave unit positioned off-camera.

A flash release function further facilitates wireless flash shooting by enabling the shutter to be released remotely from the Speedlite 320EX with a two-second delay, which gives the photographer time to re-aim the flash if necessary. The Speedlite 320EX combines rich bounce functionality with high performance, ensuring smooth, professional-looking results.

Flash coverage and guide number can be changed manually by extending or retracting the flash head. The Normal position provides wide coverage equivalent to a 24mm lens (full-frame) with a guide number of 79 (ft.) / 24 (m) at ISO 100. The Tele position boosts the guide number to 105 (ft.) / 32 (m) at ISO 100 while providing coverage for lenses 50mm and longer (full-frame).

Lightweight, pocket-sized, grip-friendly, and with an intuitive, easy-to-operate design, the Speedlite 320EX is powered by 4 AA batteries (not included) and recharges silently in approximately 2 seconds.

The Canon 320-EX is commonly used for Fill flash, General purpose, Night photography, Portraits and more. The Canon 320-EX is most used by customers who consider themselves to be a Casual photographer, Photo enthusiast, Semi-pro photographer among others. The Canon 320-EX is popular because customers like the following qualities of the Canon 320-EX: Consistent output, Durable, Easy to use, Fast recycling, Good power output, Lightweight and Versatile

Another great Speedlite from Canon

I bought the Speedlite 320EX about two weeks ago since I was interested in trying some wireless flash photography. This affordable unit makes a great companion to my Speedlite 580EX II, which is my primary flash. The E-TTL II wireless works without a glitch, really. The 320EX is certainly a refreshing change from the complexity of the 580EX II. The back panel is just so retro, and I love it! Everything is done using slider switches and push buttons, no complicated LCDs in sight. I do wish Canon had put in a test flash button and an auto zooming flash head (perhaps on the 320 Mark II?) but these niggles aside, the 320EX works, and it works VERY well. For times when I don't need the sheer power of the 580EX II, the 320EX fills up its place nicely. I'm so glad I bought this guy instead of the 270EX II, the extra money spent was well worth it. I haven't tried out the LED light for movies yet, but it's bright and I'll experiment with it soon as I can. All in all another great Speedlite from Canon!

Great flash but annoying flashing LED

When in "Slave" mode (on or off the camera - in this case a Canon 3Ti) the front LED light CONSTANTLY flashes every 3-4 seconds (AF-assist). After extensive research, there doesn't appear to be any way to disable this either from the camera or flash itself. It's extremely annoying and in theory, could cause an epileptic episode in those pre-disposed.

good can be even better

To complement the new gen of DSLRs we need more flexible flashes. This is a good step in that direction, and I'd like to see more from Canon and others.

Great Flash .. Great Value

Great Value .. cannot beat it for the price

Love it so far

from East Greenbush, NY  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I did a photo shoot yesterday with the flash, using the rechargeable batteries and bracket that came with the flash. I did studio and outdoor shots and it functioned perfectly in both settings. As an added bonus the bracket made it easier to remove the camera from the not very great tripod I use as we headed outdoors. What a difference an adjustable flash makes in image quality. Sometimes you regret a purchase but not this time...I love it so far. I have not used the hood that came with it but I'll give that a try on my next shoot.

Great general use flash w/ great feature

from Lakewood,ca  -  Photo Enthusiast

Love this flash. I like the LED light for video and indoor photography. Also love the remote trigger function for off camera use. Really allows for some fun and creative shots.

Solid Flash

from Chapel Hill  -  Photo Enthusiast

A good, all-around flash for anyone from beginners to expert photographers. The LED light on the front of the flash is very useful for shooting video in low light

Already own two

from Wilmington, DE  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Already own two for myself. Bought one as a gift for my son's family with a new infant. Very functional, compact and versatile with the Canon T3i.

from PA  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I don't really like this flash....first it does the pulsating pre flash which is noisy and distracting especially at weddings. Secondly, it doesn't seem to have much battery life. I am going to keep playing with it to see if I can get some of the settings changed but so far what I have is the way it is...

Night shots

from Mentone,ca  -  Casual Photographer

Noel S  does 320EX have a foot mount or is it only camera body mountable? Noel.
WILLIE B  Noel, I forgot it can be used with a wireless remote activated camera & flash system.
Shopper  will a regular external cord work for this flash one not made by canon?
ANTHONY T  I bought a cheap CANON compatible 10ft cord that is listed as TTL compatible, I don't know how to tell the difference between TTL and TTL2, but it works fine. If it's made for Canon, it should work fine unless defective.
