Review Summary

The quality of the camera was truly excellent for a refurbished unit, as advertised. The camera's functioned perfectly, just as I expect a quality camera to perform. I appreciate a camera that has some heft and bulk to it because it feels more comfortable in my hands and the control settings are not inadvertently changed by finger movements.

Canon once again takes photography to a higher levels with the the 35mm SLR (single lens reflex) EOS-3 camera. Canon's exclusive eye-controlled autofocus system, combined with CMOS sensor technology allowing for an unprecedented 45 focusing points, will undoubtedly revolutionise the creative process of making photographs.
Until now, the most focusing points available on any branded 35mm camera has been five. Thanks to the CMOS sensor chip and Area AF optical system, photographers can now enjoy 45 focusing points, the largest "active" autofocusing area of any SLR camera, covering nearly 25% of the picture area. All focusing points are linked directly to Canon's exclusive eye-controlled autofocus system and a 21-zone evaluative metering system, thus providing sharp focus and perfect exposure instantly, regardless of subject position. These combined technologies provide photographers with the ability to concentrate on composition instead of camera controls, with unprecedented speed, precision and flexibility. As with the Canon Elan IIE, eye-controlled autofocus in the EOS-3 is functional in both horizontal and vertical camera positions. The camera is also compatible with Canon's sophisticated E-TTL flash exposure system and provides wireless remote control with optional Speedlite electronic flash units.
The EOS-3 incorporates the world's first area AF system, a high precision focusing system, higher speed eye-control and improved high-speed focus tracking. Such technology combined with many of the features of the EOS- 1N and, of course compatibility with the extensive range of over 50 EF lenses and accessories, make the EOS 3 the perfect choice for advanced amateurs and professionals alike. The EOS 3 design is based on that of the EOS 1N - sturdy with easily accessible controls for quick and easy execution of camera operations. A range of accessories developed specifically for the EOS 3, including a Speedlite flash, is here.
