Cost effective first telezoom

I have gotten pretty involved in photography and some of Canon's more expensive lenses, but it started with this one. The longer range is OK, but not great for kids sports - a 300mm long end is better - even with a 1.6 crop factor camera like the Rebel XTi or 30D. This lens is a nice range for travel and general family events. Light and compact.

Super-compact and light, this lens is compatible with all EOS cameras and ideal for digital SLRs when used on the EOS Digital Rebel, it's equivalent to an approx. 90-320mm lens.
