I like it a lot. Has quick auto-focus, and you can use manual focus even when in auto-focus setting. Has no fringing. Has tack-sharp clarity of optics, so I can crop things shot at 250 mm and they look better than uncropped shots did with my old 300 mm lens from a different manufacturer.

I purchased the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM as a direct replacement of an EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III kit lens that I'd had from an older camera. It's a great upgrade due to it's shorter focal length on my T8i (APS-C sensor), image stabilization, and faster autofocus. My primary usage is kids sporting events, which it excels at. If you're looking to upgrade from an older kit lens or add to your collection of available lenses, this is a fantastic option that should be on everyone's short list.

Original purchased back in 2016 and has been used frequently as an avid amateur photographer. Sensor failed and repair center deemed unrepairable and recycled. This was the same lens as a replacement.

If you have a Canon EF/EF-S mount product, you cannot find any better telephoto lens for travel. Look no further and get one of these. For just 13.23 oz or 375g with pack of latest technology, merely $300 is the bargain of the century. Unlike other Canon telephoto lens, stealth capability is at its best. I purchased this through the used department here at Adorama. I love this lens! I tested it at a local small zoo and it did not fail me. It is super quiet, as a matter of fact I don?t hear it at all focusing. The IS comes in handy as some of the time I was shooting at 250mm at 60/s hand held and it nailed it. If you are looking for a versatile telephoto then this fits the bill.

This lens has been great, has a good range of zoom and is very quick focusing. The one drawback is the way the lens focuses, being an stm the camera needs to be awake with manual focus or awake while holding the shutter halfway if you want to manually focus or refocus, which isn't a horrible thing but for someone like me who likes to quickly compose shots without having the camera on or while the camera is sleeping means I have to take extra steps to get the camera on even if I don't intend to always take a picture, which means it uses more battery power. Being an STM lens though does mean it can take good video while autofocusing quietly without that jittery sound you get on standard lenses.

It is a good, fast focus lens with a definite sweet spot, but makes you work a bit harder for that clarity indoors or at max range. The included software bundle was a year old (I received the newest software when I purchased my camera in Dec 2020 from a competitor.) The Canon free software is better/more useful than the bundle for editing.

I got this for my 80D to complement the 18-55 stm that came with it. It is very light weight and plastic build but doesn't feel cheep. One thing I really like about it is the STM autofocus: it is fast and supper quiet. Also, there are no external moving parts when it focuses. The lens makes a little noise when you zoom it in fast. This can be heard on the video recording, but that's not what this lens is for anyway. I use this lens to take portraits for family members with decent results considering that's not the main purpose of this lens

I’ve had this lens for about two years now, being my only lens for now as I am a hobbyist with my Canon 77D (previously working with a Canon 50D. But I love the two together. If you love portraits and wildlife, then you’ll love this lens! Very sharp, and super versatile. If you’re taking portraits however, be prepared to stand back quite a bit if you’re looking for a blurred background lol. But otherwise, absolutely amazing. I also suggest adding a lens hood for a greater depth in color. Highly recommend!

Provides very sharp images even at the 250 focal range. I use the lens primarily for plane spotting and it has done a wonderful job. It’s quick, precise, and the STM motor is very nice to have.
