For the sake of helpfulness, I will be covering 3 important sections in this review: 1) How I use this product: - I already bought a Canon 580EX II before this, but by itself. This package is a great value. I mean it's only a few more bucks. 2) What's great about it: - This includes the Canon 580EX II, which is a magnificent piece of lighting equipment to have with any level DSLR of Canon. Now that I have 2, I can use one as a slave. It works amazingly. - This also includes a diffuser. Very nifty thing to carry around and it helps to soften the light some bit. - This also includes 4 batteries with 2900mAH WITH charger. Personally, these are the only rechargeable batteries I use because they hold so much charge and they last quite a while in my flashes. 3) What's not so great about it: - Nothing, really. This is a great working package, for a great price.

Regarding this outfit, the diffuser fits and works as advertised. The batteries cause the flash to recycle very quickly and provide many flashes. Charger works well. No complaints and the set of accessories are a good value in my opinion. The 580EX II is a good strong flash, but the ETTL has a little to be desired. It overexposes in some instances and underexposes in others. This is probably true for most ETTL flashes. Don't know. With varying subjects, about 85% - 90% of shots are properly exposed once the proper exposure values are flash exposure values are set for an environment, such as a reception. Don't assume that FEC value of 0 is the place to start. Many times, values of +1/3 to +2/3 work best with this flash and my 5D2, but your mileage will vary, and it doesn't matter what the starting point is as long as you know to not assume that 0 is the correct setting. Am reasonably happy with this flash and set of accessories, and I would be surprised if there is a better flash for Canon cameras. The recycle speed and raw lighting power are truly impressive.

Tried a cheap phoenix which was just terrible, tried sigma had inconsistent output and slow focus. This lens did it all, buy the best or buy over and over again.

The built-in flash on my Canon 50D could not keep up with the camera in the sports mode. Also, after I added a hood on the stock 28-135mm lens I realized that I could not take close up shots because the built in flash limitations; the images would come out with a shadow all the way across the bottom of the picture. I had to take the hood off every time in very low light conditions.If you are looking at this flash you most likely know what this beast is all about. All I can say is that it adds a good amount of weight to your system but it is well worth it.I also needed a flash diffuser, which costs [$] by itself. So, you are basically getting a free charger with batteries.Adorama put together a good kit for a good price: flash, diffuser, charger with batteries for [$] with free shipping. Can't beat that!I was waiting for Canon spring rebates to buy this flash unit. Once the rebates started with $50 off on this flash I ordered it immediately.I would like to mention that the battery charger comes with European adaptor plug, which is a very important to me since I travel to Europe from time to time.[...]Now, Adorama is #1 on my list to purchase photo equipment. Good job guys!

I am just getting started in the world of DSLR and paired this flash with the canon rebel xti. I read from someone once that with camera equipment you should "buy once, cry once" which is what I did with this flash. Definately spendy for my budget, but at [$]than I could get locally I felt that I was getting a great deal. [...] It was easy to set up and use and the results were stunning! The only thing I noticed is that the flash turns off automatically after a few minutes. However it must still drain power, because I forgot to turn off the switch and 3 hours later my batteries were dead. My fault though for not turning it off. Great product, great company. I will definately be back for my next purchase! Thanks again!

SBM Supreme Light Diffuser for the Canon 580EX & the 580EX II Flashes. Adorama did not have the Flashpoint flash diffuser so they sent me this diffuser instead. It is an excellent fit to the 580ex II. Not loose at all. Does a good job creting softer light from the flash. I have not compared it to other diffusers yet. Adorama 4 AA Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) 2900 mAH Rechargeable Batteries with 4-Hour AA & AAA Quick Charger, 110/220 volt. The 580ex II recharges quickly with these batteries and they have excellent capacity. I received power2000 2900mAh professional batteries and a power2000 xp333 charger. Canon Speedlite 580EX II This is a great flash. Very powerful and versatile. Comes with carry case, built in flash diffuser, bounce card, and a small stand. I can not say much more then the great things that others have already said about this flash. Overall I would say this is a great combination. Well worth the money. Especially if you are considering the 580ex II and 1 pack of 4 of the Adorama niMH 2900maH batteries and charger. You get the flash, batteries, and a diffuser for less then the flash and batteries alone.
