Finally jumped on the band wagon for this lense. Even though it is a refurb, it looks brand new and functions like it was new. I am just an amateur, but my keep rate for photo's has gone through the roof with this lense on a Canon 80D. Highly recomment this lense.

The image quality of my new (refurbished lens is astounding on my (also refurbished) 80D. It can almost see in the dark, focuses fast, and the colors seem to be better somehow. (Hard to put my finger on it.) Refurbished is the way to go -- indistinguishable from new but at a nicer price.

I bought this a month ago to use in low light and sports Photography. This lens is mint and I cannot see that is any different from a new lens. I would purchase one for Canon in a heartbeat.

The lens has soft focus on shorter focal length end for close targets. If focuses sharp at the longer (200mm end. Also soft and aberations at long distance, high contrast targets at 200mm focal length.

I just got this, so the jury's still out a bit, but my first batch of pictures don't seem to be very razor sharp when I zoom in on them. More investigation needed.

I have only used it for a couple of days, but I love it. Very sharp and crisp. Heavy to carry around, but the weight is worth it. So far, I can't say anything negative about it.

The lens is easy to use. Having a fast, long lens is great for wildlife and sports. The round aperture makes the background nice and soft when out of focus. Wish I had gotten the lens sooner.

Stop second guessing purchase prices on lenses & opt for the good glass! There is a major difference that will be seen in the quality of your photos when you purchase good glass regardless of the brand. I just happen to use Canon & Lseries lenses are worth their weight in gold & the resale value is great as glass doesn’t depreciate like camera bodies! “Buy it once, take care of your equipment, & it’s a lifetime purchase & investment!” BTW... this lens is tack sharp!

The Image Stabilization keeps things so steady that you can shoot handheld at down to 1/60s, maybe further. The bright f2.8 aperture makes this a great lens for all occasions- sunlit outdoors, dim indoors, and it leads to beautiful bokeh for portrait shots in the wider apertures. The Autofocus system is nearly 100% silent and by far and away the fastest I've ever seen out of a lens, even going from the minimum focusing distance to far out. Internal zoom means no moving barrel, which means no dust is getting inside this thing. If you can't get tack-sharp results out of this lens, you won't get them out of anything. There's a reason it's in nearly EVERY Canon wedding photographer's must-have list.

Tack sharp even down to 1/60s handheld thanks to outstanding image stabilization. Bright 2.8 aperture perfect for creamy bokeh portraits or darker indoor venues. Autofocus is lightning fast and silent even going from 5 feet away 50+. At first I thought the AF made some noise (far less than any other lens I've used, still) but it turned out that was the IS. With IS off, there is almost ZERO noise out of this incredible lens.Every part feels of quality. Focus and zoom rings are grippy and don't slide around without outside input like on older/lower quality lenses.

I own EF 100-400mm F4.5-5.6L for outdoor photography but want better photo quality for indoor sports, so I purchased this one. The overall performance for skating sport photography is fantastic. The image quality at either 70mm or 200mm end is far better than my friend's photo taken using a non-Canon lens at the same shooting position.

Excellent lens. Got it for a wedding a shoot and worked out perfectly. The lens is everything you have heard it is, crisp, fast, great bokeh, the image stabilization is great, well built. It is heavy but that is standard for this type of lens. Comes with tripod mount and carrying case.

I use the lens to shoot sports mainly. It lets in enough light that I can run a very fast shutter speed and my pictures have no blur at all.

Sharp, robustly built, stable IS, fast AF. Now with the mark iii help drive the price down more. If you wanted the best go for the mark iii, but If value is what you wanted, i think the difference is small, from what I can gathered, maybe shooting at the light source it has a little more glare than mkiiii.

A great lens just got better
By JONATHAN O.
I did a lens test between the new 70-200 f/2.8L IS against the original (my coworker's lens) and my own 200mm f/2.8L II. The 70-200 f/2.8L IS II was sharper than the 70-200 f/2.8L IS on 200mm @ f/2.8, and was just as sharp as the 200mm f/2.8L II on 200mm @ f/2.8. This lens is definitely a worthy upgrade to the original 70-200 f/2.8L IS, and is a must have lens for all photography enthusiasts and professionals. I photograph a wide range including wildlife, shooting (firearms) sports, and am...

BEST ZOOM LENS EVER!!
By JACK P.
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST ZOOM LENS I HAVE EVER USED. THE IMAGES WERE ALL SUPER SHARP. I ALSO OWNED A 200mmf/2 AND THE 70-200 IS NEARLY AS SHARP AS THE 200mmf/2! EXCCELLENT FOR TRACKING EAGLES AND NICE 4STOP IS. [...] ITS THE BEST ZOOM LENS I EVER USED
The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM AF telephoto zoom lens is one of the best and most advanced lenses in the Canon L lens series. It’s highly recommended for both advanced hobbyists and professional photographers for its wide aperture and telephoto zoom. The EF 70-200mm f/2.8L works with Canon DSLRs with full-frame and smaller APS-sized sensors. Given its constant wide diameter and zooming capabilities, it’s expectedly heavy and bulky but is highly acclaimed for its fast autofocus performance and ability to deliver the highest-quality images. At f/2.8L, photographers can easily separate the subject from the background with a very shallow depth of field, stunning sharpness, and attractive blurring of out-of-focus areas (bokeh).
This outstanding Canon lens is made up of fluorite and five ultra-low dispersion (UD) glass elements that minimize lens aberrations to ensure you get only high-contrast and crisp images. Its two-mode image stabilization (IS) system even adds up to four exposure stops to help you achieve properly exposed images even in handheld, low-light shooting situations. Thanks to its focus range limiter and ultrasonic motor, quick AF is easily achieved at unbelievable speeds.
With the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L’s one element of fluorite and five lens elements of ultra-low dispersion (UD), lens aberrations and image distortion are reduced to effortlessly achieve super sharp, striking, and precise images. This Canon lens also offers two Image Stabilization (IS) modes: Mode 1 for taking still photos and Mode 2 that smoothens those unnecessary up and down motions while tracking a moving subject. Thanks to its ultrasonic autofocus motor (AF USM), you can focus on your subjects faster and more quietly. If you wish to focus on your subject manually even in AF mode, you can easily use the manual focus override. The focus range limiter allows you to set the range of focus distances (the shortest being 3.9’ or 4.9 ft. to infinity for convenient close range shooting) and shorten your focusing time during every shot. The Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L is definitely a smart choice for both action/sports and still life photography.
What makes the 70-200mm f/2.8L Canon lens more appealing, however, is its perfectly round and bright aperture hole. With the lens allowing much more light into the sensor at any zoom setting, you get the most stunning images with pleasing bokeh (background and foreground blurring) that will make you the envy of other photographers.
The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS is specifically built for use in even the most challenging environments. Like all Canon L lenses, this telephoto resists dust and moisture. It’s lighter than other wide-diameter zoom lenses in the market, but its build quality isn’t compromised.
With the excellent features of this Canon L lens, it’s highly recommended for shooting close-ups, landscapes, subjects in low light and at nighttime, macro, time-lapse, indoors and outdoors, portraits, action/sports, travel, wildlife, events, and weddings. No matter what your passion or profession is, you’ll find the Canon 70-200mm F/2.8L IS to be the perfect lens for your Canon digital SLR.
