I bought this lens from the used department at Adorama and was pleased with the entire process. I stepped up from a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 non IS and the difference is huge. I shoot high school sports for a local newspaper as well as other sport/entertainment events and this lens is a welcome addition to my lens collection. The only negative was a lens hood did not come with the purchase, but I was able to find one locally.

I photograph a little of everything and love this lens for outdoor portraits and nature photography. The focal length is just right and the aperture is great even when using a 2x extender. As for Adorama, they did ship the wrong lens initially (otherwise 5 stars) but after a phone call and a trip to UPS I had the correct lens within the week.

I shoot sporting events at the high school level. This lens makes all the difference in low lighting and high speed situations!

My primary use is low lite stage photos for this lens. Initial checkout it looks well suited for my use. Like the lens a lot. It's not as heavy and cumbersome as I was worried.

Whether shooting Nature, Portraits or Landscapes, this lens is great. It is so sharp and with a little more weight it feels substantial and really good in your hands. IS makes it easy to shoot selective focus in any conditions. Some may not like the weight of this lens (3.24lbs) but I like the stronger feel of it.

This lense is soooo much faster than my old one! And crisp! Love love love it! I photograph motosports, mainly edurocross (bikes/quads) so speed is imperative. This is a great addition to my arsenal of lenses :)

I use it to shoot basketball. It is great in lower gymnasium light and has fast focus. The stabilization also helps a lot.

This is my most used lens and I have a full range of other options. I shoot weddings and many portraits and I can't stand constantly changing lenses, it takes too long, and there is too much that can be missed during the time it takes to do so. Great IQ and sharpness, for a zoom. It IS heavy and there are times I want to shoot w/an 85 or 100 prime, just b/c they're lighter not b/c they're better

Perfect for "sniping" at weddings. If you don't want guests staring at you blankly, waiting for you to take a photo while you are actually videotaping, pop this puppy on (use a monopod with the plate on the L support) and you can get great shots with tons of depth.

I say Photo Enthusiast because I do not make my living from Photography although I am well read on lenses, have a very high standard for quality products and do not settle for less. I am not made of money however which poses a huge problem when you like high quality products and need results that constantly re-affirm your purchases. How would you like that? To every time you take a photo say to yourself " and that's why this lens IS what it IS!" Yes I have tried competitors and fac-sigma-lees or otherwise known lenses that are still great in their own right, but really, if you want never to have to feel like you're making excuses for yourself, just get it. If you suck as a photographer this won't make you better, but if you're good, it'll make you great.

I have been hoping and saving for this lens for a long time now. I am very happy with this lens, but really haven't been able to use it a whole lot since buying it but hope to really soon. So far I'm very happy with this lens.

This is a must have for your bag if you shoot weddings. If you have a second shooter, one should keep this on for the whole event.

We shot a school graduation in the morning with over 2000 shots and then went to a reunion and shot over 3000 more. The lens did great and we have shot 5 more event after that with the same results. The only thing I would suggest is to make sure you have good batteries for the entire shoot or you will run into a slowing of the zoom function as they get weaker.

I absolutely love this lens! I love the sharp images that leap off of the photograph at you... I use it for Sports mostly and love the 2.8 for the low light I can get so many more shots because of this. Rarely comes off the camera body. It is heavy but everyone knows that before they buy it. This is my first L glass lens and a lens I will have forever!

I bought this lens for it's speed, I had the Canon 28-300mm before that and the weight in comparison is nothing. The lens is very fast in Focusing. This lens is the main lens that I use all the time, once in a while I move to the wider angle lens. The photos are great, I notice no vignetting as I saw with the 28-300mm. I wold recomend this lens to anyone.

I use several prime lenses for studio work (50mm f/1.2 and others) but this lens is my all time favorite for medium close-ups and head shots indoors or out. First, this is an incredibly fast zoom lens at f/2.8. No other zoom lens is this fast. What you get is a wonderfully narrow depth of field while standing well back from the subject. My 50mm f/1.2 is great for portraits (.5 foot depth of field) but requires that I get right in the subject's face. Not very relaxing for them. This lens gives me a great look while standing ten or more feet away. Slower zoom lenses are cheaper and lighter (use less expensive glass) so if you aren't shooting indoors or don't need the narrow depth of field, save your money. For indoor glamour close-up shots, this lens is worth the extra money.

After using the 300D (Rebel) for more than 3 years, I got the 5D with the 24-105mm in January of this year Suddenly I found all my older lens either does not match the sensor of 5D or the 5D shows the weakness of the older generation lens. I like nature photography and portrait. I need a longer zoom lens. Struggling among the 70-200 F4,F2.8, with/without IS or 100-300 with IS, I decided to go for the 70-200 F2.8 IS after searched many online review. It is expensive, heavy, bulky and difficult to carry. I cannot put it in any of my backpack or shoulder bag once it is mounted. Carry the 5D with this new lens like carrying a newborn bady coming out from the hospital, need to be very very careful. The image quality is excellent for both low light and bright daylight. Tested at the park near to my home in one of morning and another park on the other day time. First time I found such a clear, rich color and high defination digital picture in the past 4 years.

Incorporating Canon's second generation Image Stabilization technology, this telephoto zoom responds in as little at 0.5 seconds, while providing up to three stops of correction for camera shake. Its AF system has been refined for better response time and tracking speed. And even the new 8-blade circular aperture offers a more pleasing out-of-focus image. Constructed to pro standards, this fast zoom is also highly resistant to dust and moisture, too.
