I bought this to replace a 19 year old similar lens from another manufacturer that finally began having intermittent communication issues with the camera. The new lens is smaller, lighter and focuses much faster than the old one. It's also a lot quieter when focusing. A big plus is that it uses filters the same diameter as two other lenses I already use, making the load I have to carry around a lot lighter.

It zoomed in on my subjects really well and made the photos so clear. It works so well for sports shots and I love using it.

I purchased this lens at the same time I bought my first Canon DSLR, the 60D. It has served me well as a starting point for telephoto shots. The build and auto-focus are the most noticeably quality elements of this lens; the lens has a good weight to it and is metal rather than plastic which has caused it to hold up well. In addition, the auto-focus is completely silent and speedy - very helpful when photographing sports. However, if you're using this lens in anything less than broad daylight, you will be disappointed: despite the impressive focal range (especially on a half-frame DSLR), the 5.6 aperture that comes with the full 300mm focal length is a deal-breaker, namely for nighttime sports events. Other than that, I would recommend this lens to a friend because of the sheer solid build and noticeably sharp image quality.

This lens is great for beginners. Simple and easy to use while still being a lens that does what you need be it day fast shutter speed close ups or night slow shutter speed crisp shots

I have not really had a chance to use the lens, but the few picture I did take look good to an amateur. I say this because I am really new to DSLR. Even though it is a refurb looks like new. Will know better when I get back from Alaska.

So far I have used the lens in a less than great conditions. It is tough to use AF in low light conditions but manual works fine for that. I intend to use it in low light mounted on a stable platform for long exposure imaging. Haven't had the chance yet. Without a distance scale on these budget lenses, an infinity mark or detente would be a real plus. But that would be my only wish. The lens works great.

I consider myself a longtime photo enthusiast, but I've always had to make do with point-and-shoot cameras. Recently, I got a great deal on a refurbished Canon DSLR and decided that I wanted to have a telephoto lens to go with the package. I haven't had a chance to do much shooting with the lens yet, but what I have been able to do so far impresses me greatly! This is a wonderful lens for the price; don't let the "refurbished" part scare you away, though, because the lens looks and performs just like a factory-fresh lens right out of the box. The feature set is great, but one caveat: if you're new to a DSLR like me and you haven't a lot of experience with telephoto photography, a tripod or monopod might be the way to go in order to reduce camera shake and get good results. All in all, I'm extremely happy with this purchase and would recommend this lens to anyone who wants a great telephoto lens at a super price.

I wanted an economical zoom lens to photograph wildlife and scenery. I found this "refurbished" by canon and relunctantly ordered. Product arrived in perfect condition and looks brand new. Not only did I save money, I got a a great zoom lense that works great! Excellent for bird photos.

I purchased this lens for my Son . He is the sports photographer for his school paper . He is really enjoying using it . His pictures come out great . He has had three of them used in our city newspaper already . He is a beginner , but is catching on quick . Great lens for what he is using it for .

It's a decent lens considering the price. The focus is a bit slow and the range is quite limited. But if for the purpose for which is made, not all around, is great. Nice crisp photos. Just a bit slow on the auto focus; I just focus manually with it.

I use the Canon 75-300 f/4-5.6 II USM lens for capturing live action shots of wildlife and sports. This lens works flawlessly when using it in conjunction with the Canon 7D. And, most of these shots are free hand. There is no time to carry and set up tripods when you are int he wilderness and on the run. Thanks Prowler Bill

I said I was a semi-pro photographer because there was no choice for videographer (yes, that is a word) and it is great for photography and videography.

After much haggling on [@], adorama provided a a great lense at a great price. I didn't have to go through the bidding mess to get an affordable lense. Plus, their condition rating for a used product was on the money. Overall, working through adorama makes sense.

This lens is soft in focus though out most of its extended range from about 100 through 300. Do not expect to have that crisp shot that you would like to have. If however you want that softness to your pictures then this MAY be the lens for you

Over all it is worth the money. Great starter lens for the bigginer wildlife photographer. Focus is hard to get in low light but on sunny days it is right on.

This is a great lens. It's obviously not an amazing $2000+ lens, but it gets the job done. I've been shooting for a year now, and these lens do give me great results. I get close ups of animals, portrait shots, and close ups of birds from a distance, and the photos come out great. Everyone who's complaining here about the lens are obviously those who want the best photos in the world and think that cheap lens are suppose to do that. Nah man, they're cheap, obviously not the best, but they really do give great results and I would recommend to anyone who's looking for a cheap, telephoto lens.

Great for sports. My daughters love a wide variety of sports. This is a great lens for many of them. I sit in the stands and get great close ups. It is the perfect lens for water skiing pics. Very stable even when bouncing in the boat. I hope to start taking more outdoor scenic pictures this year. Can't wait.

I have used this produce for a month and a half and have concluded it is my favorite lens. It can take good portrait/scenery shots as well as distance shots. I love taking pictures of birds, and I can use its telephoto capability to get nice up close shots. Its price does not reflect its quality, as it is surprisingly cheap for a great quality. This lens is a great beginner telephoto lens, and I look to expand on telephoto capabilities.

I am quite new to the DSLR photography. However it did not take me long to see that the stock lens that came with the camera did not do what I needed. I had a budget and this lens fell right into what I needed and also into the price range. I debated on this one with the USM or the one without. I am very happy to say that I did not go wrong in selecting this one. I am already loving the auto focus more than I can say. And the zoom difference from the lens that came with the camera and this one, well lets just say if any other newbies to the DSLR camera catagory are thinking about a new lens, you won't go wrong with this one. It does feel a little heavy out of the box, but once mounted on your camera, you really don't even notice.

Great product for the price. Wouldn't know it was refurbished minus the gold sticker. Quit and accurate focus through out the focal range with no signs of blurring at any certain range. Got exactly what I wanted a lens that didn't cost a fortune and does what it was designed to do. Better lens out there but they cost way more and for my casual use with this lens 4 stars.

i wanted a lens to zoom in to take some pics of my kids at the park and also get a cool blurred background and this lens does that perfectly i didn't have a big budget so i didn't go with the IS (image stabilizer but i got a tripod and a RC-6 remote so the 75-300 mm III USM is amazing for family use and for a price under $200 its the best

Right now I use this lens for sports photography, but I've taken it out for landscaping and nature photography as well. It performs as it should for a cheap lens. It's heavy but does the job. Great lens with easy mounting and removal. No problems with it whatsoever and I doubt there will be any. Great slave lens!

You can save a bundle by getting a refurbished product. It has been retested by Canon and works fine. Although the AF works fine, I mainly use it in the manual mode. I am old fashion and like to focus it myself. [...]

I am very happy I bought this lens. It is such a great upgrade from the 18-55mm kit lens I got with my Rebel XSi.

Compact and lightweight 4x telephoto zoom lens ideal for shooting sports, portraits, and wildlife. The newly developed Micro USM makes autofocusing quicker and quieter. The improved zoom mechanism also makes zooming smoother. The front part of the zoom ring now sports a silver ring for a luxury touch.
