A whole new dimension

This product exceeded my expectations, the light that this allows through is fantastic. This has allowed me to take the shots I have longed for, no more lying prone on the ground, scuffed knees and a sore neck.

When shooting Macro one requires an angle finder that will maintain it's barrel position once set so that your hands are free to make other adjustments to your camera settings etc. [...]I returned my Canon A F C, while still under warranty, and got it back from Canon saying too bad here is where you can purchase another one. I demanded to speak with any photographer on the Canon staff. I did get a call back from Mr. Brooks and I sent the finder to him for inspection and repair. That was many weeks ago and he lately sent it to some "top person at Canon". This coupled with the failure of two L series lenses (one new in the box) the (other virtually new, but out of Canon Warranty), I am loosing faith in Canon. And worse I am fast loosing interest in photography.

Works as expected

For low angle shooting this is the perfect solution. Expensive for what it is but Canon products generally perform as advertised.

Makes Macro photos so much easier

Getting too old for those ground flower macro pictures? Than this could be your best investment. Easy to use and the results are great. Takes a little practice but worth the effort.

Great option for low profile use

By

from Fairfax station, VA  -  Professional

This was exactly what I needed. Allows the photographer to get shots at angles that would normally not be possible. I use this for macro shots of plants low to the ground. The integrated magnifier is handy to obtain a better manual focus when needed. The eyepiece also rotates so you can shoot in portrait or landscape mode. In addition this is the usual canon build. Heavy duty for years of use. Also comes with a case.

Great device for landscape particularly on low tripod. Very quick and simple to slide on.

Difficult viewing but well made.

By

from Columbia, MD  -  Semi-Professional

Its difficult, if not impossible to get a full frame view with or without glasses. Its too bad since it is very well made.

Not up to PAR

By

from Wexford, Pa.  -  Semi-Professional

The concept for this product is basic; make it easier to get low shots. Problem is this product is poorly designed. After a few uses, it is no longer stable on the eyepiece. Poor reflection on Canon quality. Ontop of that, they continually increase the price without improving the product.

Exceeds expectations for my work!

By

After reading many reviews and consulting with professionals, I chose the Canon angle finder C as an accessory for macro photography for scientific documentation of specimens both in the field and in the laboratory (I am a university professor). This unit works perfectly for improving the comfort of taking photos in close quarters and the quality of the resulting images is much improved over other methods for getting such shots. I am currently using the finder on a Canon EOS 7d with an EF 100mm f/2.8L macro lens, but this unit will be equally useful in the near future since I plan on getting a full-frame EOS within the next few years. It works smoothly – exactly what I needed. Kudos also to Adorama, who has what must be the most extensive and impressive inventory I have yet to find online making one-stop shopping realistic (California does not have such a photography 'superstore'…). Packing was secure, shipping was fast, and personal contact service for advice was friendly and professional all the way. A wonderful experience – Thanks!

Handy for hard to "see" places

By

from Columbia SC  -  Semi-Professional

Okay, I'm beginning to feel the years creep into my joints and the kind of bending, stooping, leaning and other physical gyrations I used to be able to do in order to get the shot are just not happening anymore. Then I came upon this little gem and it's really helped out a lot. By the way, I tried the tripod route and live view, but I've never been one to use my tripod much and I have always preferred to frame the shot through the viewfinder. So if you are looking to ease the pain of getting certain shots -- especially macro and nature -- and like me are tired of lugging or fidgeting with a tripod then I recommend you give this handy attachment a try. Pros: Canon's angled viewfinder I can carry in my pocket and use it when I need it. It slips on easily and the optics are tack on. Cons: The action -- it rotates, click by click -- needs to be a bit stiffer because it's too easy to move it out of place. Perhaps there is a way to adjust this, but I've yet to figure it out. 2) The metal tabs that hold it in place do not seem to be very sturdy -- which is why is feels a bit loose -- but only time with tell how it holds up. Reasons 1 and 2 were the reasons I checked the "Not Durable" box on this rating/review. 3) Like a lot of Canon product's it's ridiculously expensive -- I purchased mine used from Adorama and was pleased with both the purchase price, condition and service I received. I hope this helps. ciao m

a must have for macro shooting

By

from chicago  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

This is a must have for any one that does macro photography so you don't hurt your neck. Also if you have a short tripod it works great.

Didn't work well for me.

The viewfinder functioned as designed, but it did not work for my application. I photograph dogs which are constantly. Very difficult to follow motion in the viewfinder.
