Must have for tripod users

Formerly known as a "cable release," this "Remote Switch" is mandatory for tripod mounted digital cameras to avoid camera shake at low shutter speeds and/or timed exposures. However, you'll also need to acquire the Remote Wireless shutter release to more easily include yourself in a photo.

OK for the most part

Used this for fireworks photos. Even though I read the instructions, it did not seem to work as it was supposed to. I could not get it to keep the shutter open as long as I wanted.

A needed accessory

I love this remote! I use it for mostly long exposures like star trails. The lock position is perfect for BULB mode. I also use it to take pictures of kids, this way I can get them to smile and take the picture. For the long exposure shot I don't have to set the camera to the 2 second delay.

Hands Free

By

Simple to operate and failproof, this item does same as the shutter button a slight pressure sets focus and exposure and complete pressure releases the shutter witout camera shake, It would be nice if the cord was a little longer 3' would be perfect.

Very nice...handy

A remote is essential for macro work or shots like lightening and fireworks. The I.R. type (RC-6) has reasonable range and is good for group photos but the sensor is on the front of the camera. This RS-60 E3 is more convenient when I can be close to the camera. It works on both my T4i and this 70D. The cord is a little short but not a limitation.

Great gadget.

By

Works very well for eliminating camera shake when shooting with a tripod, macro shots, light-box shots, etc. I no longer have to set the self timer to allow the camera to stop shaking before the shot is taken.

I would recommend this product

I am currently using this for long landscape exposures and it works perfectly with my 60d. The cord wraps around the switch and plug secures into the bottom for storage. Works great!

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
COUNSELING & C  Need one of each camera. Steady the shot. Many great shots are ruined with small vibrations, this eliminates another potential problem for wasted shots.
jason c  Does this work with the Canon T4i?
NANCY H  Yes, the RS-60 E3 is listed in the Canon USA website as an accessory for the Canon T4i.
Shopper  Is there an extension so one can hide some feet away if using the camera to record activity at a bird feeder? How long is the extension?
NORMAN G  I use the switch with my G11. The cable is just two feet long and there seems to be no provision to lengthen it. The instructions are very poor and it took a long time to figure out how to actually use it. Finally purchased a cheat sheet book that helped.
