How does the spring-loaded flash-flip feature enhance my photography?

Is it possible to use off-camera flashes with the CB Digital-S Flash Rotating Bracket?

Can I attach additional accessories like soft boxes and flash filters to this bracket?

Shopper : Can the bracket "flip" the other direction? counter clockwise?KEVIN G : That's the way it's being used in the product pictures, isn't it. Imagine the lens pointing toward you, so the vertical handle of the bracket would actually be on the left when you're operating the camera (opposite the shutter release).JAMES W : You can swivel the bracket any direction, but it usually needs to have the handle on the other side of the camera, away from the shutter button. In case that isn't the answer to the question you are asking, the 'flipping' portion covers 180 degrees, but only in the same plane in line with the base of the bracket.JAMES S : The mount already does flip counter-clockwise as view from the person holding the hand grip in the left hand. If you wanted to mount your camera the other way around then it would flip the other direction, I suppose. I'm not sure I understand the question entirely. Anyway, this bracket works for landscape and portrait orientation by having the top bar rotate 180 degrees.JIM K : I'm no expert, but I did not see how it would. I tried mounting it to the camera in the reverse position, just to get that same thing. It worked, but was less stable. FWIW, most times I have gone back to mounting the flash directly on camera and bouncing the flash.MARC M : The bracket as seen in the picture I have the handle on the left of the camera, I have it on my Canon 5DIII, then it will only flip to the right off the side of the camera so you have to rotate the camera counter clockwise to get the flash to be on top. Hope this helps.RANDY M : Yes, it can. I use it like that frequently.LEWIS U : Yes (If I understand your question correctly). The arm that holds the flash rotates a full 180 degrees in the same plane as the arm that holds the camera. I hold the grip in my left hand and operate the camera controls with my right hand, so to switch from landscape to portrait, I flip the flash arm 180 degrees counterclockwise as I am looking at the rig. In fact. holding it the other way might be difficult if your shutter release is on the right.FRED W : The arm that flips will rotate 180 degrees. Depending on where you mount your camera that can be clockwise or counterclockwise. This is a well made bracket.CHARLES S : The bracket is designed to mount the flash directly above the lens when held as shown. If you flip the camera to portrait (vertical) position the flash mount arm can be flipped 180 degrees to put the flash unit above the camera. The flash head may or may not be directly above the lens in this case, depending on the height of the flash unit. In both orientations the shadow of the subject is thrown somewhat below the subject in the photo.TAKAFUMI K : Nope? The upper bar flops to the right. That's ALL it does.
Charlie H : Can one use the bracket to attach a Zoom H4n which has a 1/4-20 female socket in the base?Charlie H : Lewis U, do you need to buy any new parts to attach the Edirol besides what come with the bracket?LEWIS U : Interesting application! You should be able to attach the Zoom H4n to the bracket; I just attached an Edirol recorder with a 1/4-20 socket, and it worked fine.JONI H : Sorry, but I am not able to answer that question for you. I am not familar with the Zoom H4n. Joni HallVITOR L : YES.... U GOTTA GET A SIMPLE ADAPTER THAT HAS HOTSHOE ON THE BOOTOM AND 1/4 PIN ON TOP. THIS BRACKET COMES WITH A HOT SHOE THINGY ON IT.... SO U END UP WITH ONE ON TOP OF CAMERA (LIKE TO ATTACH FLASHES) AND ONE ON THE BRACKET. BEWARE THIS BRACKET IS HEAVY BUT DURABLE. I LIKE IT BUT IDK IF I WOULD BUY IT AGAIN DUE TO WEIGHT.
Robert M : I want to attach an SB400 flash. I already own an off-camera remote cord, so how do I attach the flash to the arm. Am I required to buy an accessory?KEVIN G : I'm not sure if the Nikon remote cord is the same as the Canon, but the Canon has a 1/4-20 socket in the base of it. There is a 1/4-20 screw included with the bracket that works great for this purpose.ENOCH R : Yes, you need a hot shoe attachment. I use a Nikon SC-28 with my CB bracket.CARLOS W : Hi there: it can be tricky. I assume you have a dedicated flash sync extension cord, a dedicated cable that conects from the hot shoe of your camera to the base of the flash, therefore, having the capability of using full ttl or e ttl flash functions. the bracket has a hole on top, so you screw the 1/4 inch bolt into the flash. you will need a hot shoe adaptor for this.. a hot shoe that has a 1/4 inch hole (female) on the bottom, so to attach it to the bracket, and anothe hot shoe clip so to attach it to the flash, Ideally, your flash cord will have a 1/4 inch female tread on one side,, but I doubt it,, I suppose, you can find it somewhere.. be patient,, it is not that straightforward, but eventually , you will get it right. cheers,ALISHA M : If you have a sync cord already, you should be good to go! It doesn't require any other accessories than that.JONI H : I use my bracket with my Canon Rebel and a 430EX speedlite, which is my back-up camera. This does require a hot shoe/off camera flash adaptor and sync cord. For myself, the hot shoe adaptor gets connected to the upper bracket. My speedlite then gets slid onto that. The other end of the sync cord (which faces forward for me), then gets secured on to the flash connector area on the camera. The only thing that I find inconvenient, is that the sync cord sometimes gets in the way, which is nothing that can be changed. I love the flexibility, ease and photographing advantages that the brackets provide. I would never be without them for my cameras. Joni HDAVID S : It comes with a screw that attaches to the base of your camera.BERT C : Your sync cable should have threaded hole to mount it. This flash bracket comes with a screw that you screw threw a hole in the bracket into your sync to mount the sync firmly to the bracket. ~An owner of the bracket

Flash bracket built like a piece of jewlery

Realizing that this is more than a flash bracket with lots of people doing video. It is a pleasure to see feel touch this bracket. Got it deeply reduced in price. bought some extra cold shoes with the savings everything is pro quality. Could not utilize the fingers that prevent the bracket from rotating in the tripod socket due to interference with GX8 tilt screen. It fastens securely so it really was not a problem. I should have had this 30 years ago when I did weddings. As I said it is multipurpose now for microphone and video lights. The Panny ergonomics dont work to well for me but if it were on this bracket it is a joy feather light compared to DSLR. I played around with mounting multiple flash and tripping optically with small OEM strobe and was able to get studio looking lighting by bouncing big flash and small flash pointed at subject. Yep you need white ceilings for that act to work.

for 5d mark II without batterygrip

Easier to hold the camera up with this one, than a camera mounted flash+camera alone. Great size for 5dMark II without batterygrip at bottom of it - I am a 'girl' so I prefer things lighter. Cannot compare to other similar products though - but it's great to be able to have the flash vertical above the camera for shots; camera turned horizontal & vertical!

It's great for a flash extension

I use this product for a flash extension that is away from the camera, so I can add soft boxes and flash filters.

Glad I bought it.

Bought a Pentax K 20 with a 540 flash and this is a perfect compliment to both. Works very smooth and the price is right. Glad I bought it.

Clean, simple and well made

Great for moving SB-600 flash unit off the camera which eleminates most red eye, especially when photographing children - bright blue eyed children. Also great for changing angle of flash to enhance detail.
