With the Nikon D800 and 60 mm macro lens there was a noticable sag of the camera on the mount. I used shims on the bottom part of the bracket atttaching the camera to the plate to ensure the film plane was parallel to the base by checking with a bubble level. I found that using a cable release and liveview was also important to get good quality resuts. I think this is most likely a design issue which the user should be aware of. Making very small height adjustments is somewhat awkward. I also purchased the the light set with the stand which has worked well. For a causal user of copy stands, I think this represents a good value-just don't think you're getting the quality of a $700 copy stand for this price.

I've used copying stands for years for macro work, and went looking for another for home. They're hard to find at a good price these days, and I was happy to find this one at Adorama. It works well, although it can be hard to make small height adjustments. I also wish the light kit would take four bulbs, as that can give more flexibility. Still, if you want to get a copy stand for under $1000, this is a good choice.

Right now I'm using this for my coin selling on my e-Bay. But I make woodcrafts for sale too and needed something at least 20-22" square. This was very reasonable priced. It's solid, easy to use, and I'm using it 6-8 hours every single day. The 42" height was a little more then I needed, but I needed that larger base too. I did not buy their copy lights as i'm mainly using natural light coming in my kitchen bay windows. The Column bolts onto the heavy duty copy board, and they even included the allen wrench too. Directions was just fine. Like all of us guys, we don't look at instructions till we get into trouble. :-) I bought my Canon XSI D-SLR and a Canon 100 mm lens for it too at Adorama too. I also have no vibration problems using a heaver lens, even doing quick 3 bracketed shots. It's easy to move the the camera up and down and there is even line marks on the Column, something i did not even think about when buying it. I'm very happy with it. Would buy it again without any hesitation if i had gotten to test one out for the first time somewhere, and then buy it at Adorama. [...]
