HL8: I got several units and I like them all. One click and the last light setting is on. One click and the light is off. Simple! If I want to change mode, I can do it easily...but do not have to look for my setting every time I turn the light on. I love this "feature"! All light should be like this! I do not have to press several times just to turn the mode I want.

i m semi truck mechanic shop i work in have low lightings so i need lots of lights mostly work under the truck without lifts so its very dark .I bought this incredible headlight 2 years ago still have same battery everything the same original! battery leave in charge with regular phone charger (replaced two my own phone chargers)over night for 2 years lols!

I deliver fuel, and need to see down the fill pipe while delivering. This lamp, mounted on my hardhat is great improvement on the older COASTAL headlamp, that I have been using. Technology is improving what's available.

Love the HL8. I've been using it on at least a weekly basis for the last 5 years as a utility worker. The company provides Streamlight Spotlights with a tight beam that are good for their intended purpose of shining far and lasting a long time but for distances of 1/2 block or less the HL8 is perfect. Nice bright light that lights up the entire top of the utility pole with the ability to zoom in on suspected trouble areas in your line but with the 3 settings your able to flood it out so you can see everything around once you're in the air and getting things fixed. Low power and flood is perfect for doing outage reports or taking notes though the tablets are thankfully cutting back in all the paperwork but I can't tell you how many reports I've filled out under this light. I'm reviewing it again now 5 years after my original purchase because my first one did finally break, but not the light it was the external battery pack. I contacted CoastPortland to see if i could purchase a new one that took the AA batteries and in my amazement they said it was lifetime warranted and I'd be receiving the parts soon as i sent proof of ownership and a complete unedited pic of the light which I promptly did. These CSR David was an amazing rep and very knowledgeable. I received what I though was my new battery pack just a couple days later and to my surprise i receive a completely new HL8 headlamp with all the cords, hardhat clips( which are truly a must have for anyone using this with their head P. P. E, and battery pack so essentially i received a brand new unit. I was happy just knowing I could get the battery pack, real happy when they said it was covered under warranty and blown away by getting a brand new unit even after telling them I use it for business not just personal use. I was so happy with the service from David and Coast I purchased the 11R handheld with a second Zithion Battery so I have a fresh one on me ready to go at all times and boy is that thing bright and seems to be of the same great Coast quality and i purchased the EAL22 with the Zithion Battery pack. I will be getting another battery pack for it soon as well as the work light, floodlight that you can charge other USB products off of. I've already made use of that feature with the spare Zithion I bout for my 11R. I also think for Christmas I'm gonna splurge and buy myself the HL8R for myself and give my son the HL8. I must say it is a bit of sticker shock at first but when your life depends on being able to see what's around you with the exceptional customer support you shouldn't think twice about going with Coast. They're a great blue collar working man's light that take the abuse of daily on the job abuse, at an affordable price which I'd hate to lose one but the banks not gonna come for my pickup if I lose it and have to buy another. I will be a Coast user for the rest of my life. Quit looking at those junky 5bdollar LED lights at the farm stores and the dim lit bunny headlamps and get yourself some Coast Products. Trust me you'll be glad you did. As a side note I did find a couple models for ale at my local Lowes for less than the cost on the website however they were sub 30 dollar non rechargeable models which might be a good place to grab 1 quick to see what your getting.

I just got this headlamp, and with the great optics It shines far and long on just the low setting, which will run 60+ hrs. High lumens are not necessarily a good thing; OPTICS out perform lumens

I've been using the HL8 for years. As a duck hunter, I'm on the water well before the sun even shows a pink hint in the east. I used to rely on a 12v handheld sealed beam to navigate the dark. I'm not saying this product will out shine the old Q Beam, but I am saying I dont use the old heavy handheld anymore. The HL8 is sufficient, and the ease of use makes it a no brainer. It shines where I look. It has never failed me. I've tried them all and spent lots of money on false claims. This is the real deal. It's like a sealed Beam on your head without the weight and the cord.

This is the 3rd one of these lamps I have purchased, I've worn out the other two. I love them for the type of work I do, so I bought 2 this time so I have a spare. The selectable light level, the focus capability, and the ease of changing batteries instead of waiting for the sucker to recharge, are all big pluses for me.

Best headlamp ever! This thing is built like a tank and Coast stands behind their products. My old Crew HL8 quit working after 6 years of heavy use. After submitting a warranty claim I had my brand new Crew HL8 in less than 5 days. Would definitely recommend Coast products to anyone.

The HL8 is the best head light I have ever seen! It is comfortable and simple to adjust. It cast bright and clear light with no shadows or shade in the beam. It is an excellent design at a good price.

This was not a new purchase but the third time I’ve had to replace this product. While I am generally happy this light I just wish it would last longer that 1 1/2- 2 year before I have to send it back for a replacement

FIRST THING I noticed is bulky with back battery on headband. Light is fantastic. I use this in my shop and bought a lighter model in a COAST special purchase for carry and use in my vehicle.
