Misfit

The platform is too small, and too close to the attachment on the Telescope. There needs to be some kind of extension for most common Cameras. It won't work with most cameras!

Eyepieces used with this adaptrer

By

from Illinois  -  Casual/ Recreational

I did not have a Celestron telescope. I had a Meade 4" Schmidt Cassegrain and a Televue Ranger 70mm. Both of these scopes use the same eyepieces that Celestron scopes use. My scopes were 1.25 inch eyepiece diameter. Any 1.25in. diameter eyepiece is usable with this adapter for digiscoping. This adapter also happens to work with 2.0" diameter eyepieces. If you are using a scope with a .96" eyepiece, this adapter may NOT work. This adapter has no optics, it simply holds your compact digital camera over the eyepiece on a tripod. It works well. Note: with magnification at these high levels, it can take some time to find your subject and then take the photo. I used this adapter with a Nikon Coolpix 5400 camera. It does work with many other cameras and brands. I hope this answers your question and helps. Jim

Digital Camera Adapter

By

from Cleveland, Ohio  -  Casual/ Recreational

As a beginner with a real interest in astronomy, I wanted to be able to take photos of the moon and other celestial bodies with my point and shoot digital camera. This item makes it possible to do so with ease. Like all (in my experience) Celestron products that are made in [*], I am pleased with the quality, construction and ease of use. Once mounted on the telescope, it's easy to fine tune adjustments.

Questions about this item:

bill s  will yhis item work with a camera that has a 2 1/4" lens barrel?
MICHAEL J  As you might or might not know, this adapter mounts to your telescope lens barrel, and you must have a smooth, unobstructed surface of 1 to 1 1/2 inches to clamp it to. It will fit any size, but with this adapter, it is best suited to smaller point and shoots, as cameras with longer lenses will not have enough clearance between the camera and telescope eyepiece. If you're good with your hands and tools, you could make an plate to fit on the table of the adapter to compensate for larger cameras. You may email me if you have questions.
Jim W  Did anyone buy this to use with a Nikon Coolpix 5400 camera? If so, did it work well and easily?
THOMAS B  I purchased the Celestron Universal Digital camera adapter and it is fully adjustable to be able to mount most digital fixed lens cameras. The issue is the distance the lens moves if it is not a fixed lens camera. The telescope eye piece is locked into position aligned with the camera lens after much adjusting and re-adjusting. There must be enough room between eyepiece and the camera lens to extend as it focuses without coming into contact with telescope eyepiece. I believe the Nikon Coolpix 5400 has a lens that moves in and out from camera body. It still may work if camera lens travel is not too large. Thomas B.
