A few things you should know before buying: This dew shield will REDUCE dew. It will not prevent it. However, it's a great combination with a dew heater strip, especially if you have a dew heater controller with a temperature sensor that reduces the voltage when the tube is already x degrees above ambient. I have not encountered this problem yet, but I would predict this is not a good item to use in anything above moderate winds. It will exacerbate the mounts movement by acting like a sail. A little light pollution is easier to remove or ignore than scope shake. Do not attempt to wrap this around your tube and fasten the hook and loop. This will put stress on your mount, and the flexure will prevent a uniform joining. Instead, make the dew shield into a tube and then slide it on to your OTA. There's enough padding that you can be off by and bit and it will still fit snugly. It's best to store this shield flat. That should ensure that you don't get any inward distortion if you leave it rolled and something rests against it causing it to deform. The logo & brand name stickers will fall off almost immediately. I'm not sure why Celestron even bothers sticking them on there. The hook and loop strips don't seem all that great, but I've yet to have an issue with it coming undone.

One of the major problems I have had with flexible dew shields is the slippage that is caused because the shield is prohibited from going far up enough on the OTA by the dovetail. The notch on the DS sold by Adorama is the perfection solution.

Works like it is supposed to and fits my 8se like a glove. I had it out this morning (4-6am) in pretty high humidity and absolutely no dew on the corrector plate. It also serves the function of blocking the local street lights :) Adorama was very fast processing/delivering my order.

This shield fits perfectly on my Celestron 8" EdgeHD, and on one recent humid night when I had the scope out for an hour and a half, it kept the dew off the corrector lens, even though the shield itself got very dewey. I previously borrowed a metal dew shield, which worked just as well, but took up more room in my car. This flexible, collapsible design is definitely an advantage when storage space is at a premium. It's also helpful as a light shield.

I use this on a Celestron C8. Fits and works great. Have only used it for a max of about three hours - not all night - but no dew problem.

I own a nexstar 8se and this product fits my scope very well and keeps dew from building up on the collector plate, I would definitely recommend this product.

This is a sturdy shield with padding on the inside to grip the telescope. Has a cut out for the bracket found on the side of my Celestron. Fit was perfect.It helped cut out light from nearby houses. It was a good purchase.

Got this from Adorama for a Nexstar 8se. Fits perfect. Very well made, looks good on my scope. Got it to cut out stray light.[...] Highly reccomend Adorama.

I got this for my nexstar 8se and it's just great. It does two equally important things. First this scope is a schmidt-casseagrain design, which means that it has a corrector plate at the front of the tube. This plate cools faster than the air around it which will cause fogging. The dew shield slows this process down. Second, it acts as a light shield, which improves contrast.

This product is well made and very sturdy. with the velcro strip it attaches to the end of my Celestron cpc8XLT-GPS" scope with no problem and in seconds and holds tight.besides keeping dew off the mirrors it also shields from stray light. It should be the first and last time I should have to purchuse one!
