I make micro miniature dolls - they are in 144th scale and smaller, so they are less than 5/12 of an inch tall. Taking good pictures of such small objects has been difficult, but this instrument allows me to do that easily and cheaply. I found some like it in a web search, but this was the best price by far. Using the base that comes with it, I made it focus forward instead of down, using a small box as a "stage" for my dolls. Works great.

I bought the Celestron Handheld Digital Microscope for geological work. It allows me to instantly capture magnified images of rock samples for later reference. With the aid of color-picking software I'm also able to compensate for red-green colorblindness. The image is very clear and bright. The small size makes it much easier to use on a field desk than a binocular microscope. It's also easy to show others what I'm seeing on the laptop screen. My only things that keep me from giving it 5 stars are the way that focusing changes the magnification, and the measurement feature in the software only works at a set focal distance.
