The LED illuminator ensures your specimens are clear and bright. Great gift for kids

By

from Westchester County, NY  -  Casual/ Recreational

Bought microscopes for two kids, age 6 and 12. They loved them. Easy set up with Mac or PC. True plug and play. They got a real kick seeing (and photographing) close up views of coins, hair, salt crystals, skin...etc. Seems to be well made and should stand up to a reasonable amount of use by the kids. Highly recommended.

Fun Instrument

By

from Maineville, Oh  -  Casual/ Recreational

This was given as a gift to a 11 year old. He thought it was "cool" to see things magnified. The magnified images are clear and sharp. I was disappointed that images were not in color.

Really nice, and easy to use!

I use this to evaluate antique coins. It is great for taking pictures and spotting things my old eyes are no longer able to see. For the price, it's a steal!

Excellent Image Quality/Adjustability

By

from Texas  -  Avid Adventurer

I'm an amateur scientist at home. This product has very good image quality and its pretty easy to adjust and focus. The weakest point is the lack of ability to adjust the lighting conditions, its just 6 bright white LEDs on full blast all the time so it can wash out things you are trying to examine. With a Mac I just plugged the microscope into the powered USB on the computer, went to Photobooth, clicked on "Celestron Microscope" input that automatically was listed and pressed the image capture icon on the screen. So easy.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one?
DAVID D  Mostly because of the very reasonable price. But after using it I find that it really works well and is a quality item for the price.
Shopper  Model number.?
JUDY B  #44302-A
dy c  Would this microscope be good for looking at pennies in detail and taking a picture of them to share with other penny collectors?
ANDREW I  Not really. The top-down illumination does a poor job of showing edge detail. You would need to disable the build-in LEDs and do your own lighting. Also, the software is marginal at best. A good macro lens on a digital camera would be a better investment, IMHO.
