The intermediate-level Celestron Deluxe Handheld Digital Microscope is an easy to use, low power microscope. With powers of 10x to 40x, its ideal for viewing stamps, coins, bugs, plants, rocks, skin, gems, circuit boards, and more. With the higher power magnifications, you can even view traditional microscope slides.
Best of all, you can capture your discoveries using the built-in 2.0 MP camera. Press the shutter to save images and VGA-quality video directly to your PC. The LED illuminator ensures your specimens are clear and bright. An included metal stand allows for steady shots and comes in handy when viewing at higher powers, minimizing shaking and keeping your specimen in sharp focus.
For teens and adults alike, the Deluxe Handheld Digital Microscope is a fun, educational tool. Its well suited for hobbyists, quality control inspectors, medical professionals, and scientific researchers.

Bought microscopes for two kids, age 6 and 12. They loved them. Easy set up with Mac or PC. True plug and play. They got a real kick seeing (and photographing) close up views of coins, hair, salt crystals, skin...etc. Seems to be well made and should stand up to a reasonable amount of use by the kids. Highly recommended.
This was given as a gift to a 11 year old. He thought it was "cool" to see things magnified. The magnified images are clear and sharp. I was disappointed that images were not in color.
I use this to evaluate antique coins. It is great for taking pictures and spotting things my old eyes are no longer able to see. For the price, it's a steal!
I'm an amateur scientist at home. This product has very good image quality and its pretty easy to adjust and focus. The weakest point is the lack of ability to adjust the lighting conditions, its just 6 bright white LEDs on full blast all the time so it can wash out things you are trying to examine. With a Mac I just plugged the microscope into the powered USB on the computer, went to Photobooth, clicked on "Celestron Microscope" input that automatically was listed and pressed the image capture icon on the screen. So easy.
