About Celestron NexStar 130 SLT

The popularity of Celestron's NexStar 114 models inspired us to go bigger! Celestron is proud to introduce NexStar 130 SLT. The NexStar 130 SLT has 30% more light-gathering power than our 114mm telescope. And the 114 SLT, like the other models in the SLT Series, comes with a fully computerized hand control. The computerized hand control gives you the ability to automatically slew to any of its 4,000+ objects, including over 600 galaxies, 300 clusters and dozens of beautiful binary stars. With its pre-assembled, adjustable steel tripod, the NexStar 114 SLT can be up and ready to use in a matter of minutes. The SkyAlign alignment technology and the included StarPointer Finderscope with a red LED makes aligning a breeze.

View the details of the lunar surface, the rings of Saturn, the polar ice caps on Mars, the cloud belts on Jupiter or a number of the Messier objects such as the globular cluster in Hercules (M13), or the Great Nebula in Orion (M42). Begin to explore some of the fainter Messier objects using the additional light-gathering capabilities of the 130 SLT's 5" primary mirror. Because of the Newtonian design, the mirror gives fully color-corrected views that are best suited for astronomical use.

With Celestron's revolutionary new alignment technology, setting up and using a computerized telescope is faster and easier than ever before!

Point the telescope at three bright objects in the sky and the telescope tells YOU what the objects are. You do not need to know the names of the stars - you can even pick the moon or bright planets! SkyAlign is the easiest method to align a computerized telescope, it's perfect for beginners and provides the convenience and accuracy demanded by experienced users.

SkyAlign is the only alignment method where you truly do not have to know the night sky - and it's only available from Celestron.

Great Beginner Telescope

from daytona beach, florida  -  Casual/ Recreational

This is my first telescope and I am very pleased with it. The clarity is amazing and when dialed in correctly will follow an object through the sky the entire night. Of course I'm usually bouncing around and checking out several sights so I don't zero in on just one thing for long periods of time. But you can return to an object with ease which I have done many times. Honestly, this telescope has not disappointed at all; it's easy to transport, easy to set up and easy to use. Hope you enjoy!

Good beginning telescope

from Southern Illinois  -  Casual/ Recreational

Purchased additional camera mount but too much wobble when pressing shutter button. Able to view Saturn and rings with 15MM lens. Starfinder lens takes getting used to but must be aligned properly to work correctly. Good beginner scope!

Great But sightscope seems poorly made

from Stokesdale, NC  -  Casual/ Recreational

I use the scope to watch the space station and the moon. This is my first telescope, and other than the sightscope giving me a feeling it has a short, its wonderful. I will add The software provided seems old and feel the instruction book could use a major overhaul. It would be nice if the cord to update the Nextar firmware was provided instead of being an antiquated extra part. This is my first telescope EVER and well, it doesn't just come out of the box ready to go. Overall, a good buy, BUT again more information should be included.
