About Celestron Omni XLT 150mm Refractor

A premium optical system to explore the universe... The Omni XLT family of telescopes was designed to offer a selection of models with the quality optics and stable platform that serious amateurs can appreciate.

The new Omni XLT Series features refractor, reflector and Schmidt-Cassegrain optical designs coupled with the new Omni CG-4 heavy-duty German Equatorial mount and sturdy tripod featuring 1.75" stainless steel legs and center tray for superior rigidity and vibration dampening.

Along with the stable platform of the CG-4 mount the Omni XLT series features high quality optics. Using aspheric shaping technology in conjunction with hand-figuring the optics the Omni XLT presents an image with virtually no spherical abberation. Celestron also added the famous StarBright XLT coating system to further enhance light transmission.

With superior optics and a stable platform the Omni XLT series is a great choice for astrophotography. Use the optional dual-axis motor drive (#93522) and polar axis finder (#94221) to track objects for long exposure photography.

Four aperatures are available in the Omni XLT series, 102mm 120mm 127mm and 150mm, all with Starbright XLT Coatings. Locate and identify thousands of celestial objects on your laptop or PC with "The Sky" Level 1 software included FREE with every Omni XLT model.

The series features a Tall finderscope mount for easier viewing through finderscope. Machined focus knobs for fine tuning focus. The CG-4 German Equatorial mount has a refined style and provides the stability you would expect from Celestron's CG mounts.

Great astrophotography starter

By

I got this scope with the intention of getting in to astrophotography and it blew away all my expectations. A couple things to note is that you will have to collimate this scope, and you will want the dual axis motor drive for photography. This is a great scope for the money and would buy it again in a heartbeat. The large aperture and short focal length make it a great candidate for viewing large low light objects.

Great telescope for the money

By

from Portland, OR  -  Casual/ Recreational

This is the first telescope I have owned, although I have been seriously stargazing for about a year (with 15X70 Binocs). Even from a VERY light polluted area (I live in the middle of a metro area with almost 2 million people), I am able to see a surprising number of deep sky objects. Clusters and larger nebula are easy, and even galaxies have been faintly visible, such as M81, M82, M104 and M94. The galaxies are hard to find because of light pollution and because I only have two eyepieces (4 and 25mm - a 9 is on the way!). But remember, this is viewing from a very urban, horribly light-polluted area. When I get this thing to a dark sky location, I have a feeling I will be absolutely thrilled! Very well constructed, super tripod. Magnificent views of the moon and Saturn! Very happy with the scope. Also very happy with Adorama so far, bought the scope and an eyepiece from them -[...]

Best for your buck!

By

from Tampa, Florida  -  Casual/ Recreational

This is my first telescope purchase ever so I cannot compare it to anything else. The scope is great and the mount seems to be a perfect match. The construction was easy, you can tell how high quality everything is when putting it together. Everything fits so snug and seems very heavy duty. [...] First night out I saw orions nebula, very beautiful and the sliver of moon was gorgous also. Second night out I tried out the dual axis motors. No polar alignment and just rough north alignment using my eyes. I was amazed at the accuracy of these motors. I set my scope on saturn and used my 6mm w/ 2x barlow, engaged the motors, left for about 10 minutes. I was very surprised that when I came back saturn was still in my scopes view. Also, I purchased the Celestron accessory kit which I highly recommend. I purchased the 5 EP + barlow one which is great. I highly recommend this scope to any beginner wanting to purchase a quality scope that will last them a very long time. Soon I will be using this scope for beginner astrophotography. Can't wait!
