Great value, would purchase the 100 next

Made many friends at Yellowstone National Park sharing the view with this scope. Binoculars can't compare if you want to see the wolves, bears, elk, etc. You do not need an expensive scope. The dust cap was worthless and broke immediately(are you listening Celestron?). However, a Penn tennis ball can cover with a Sima brand cap keeper works just fine. I plan to purchase the 80 or 100 for next Yellowstone trip.

Very good scope for the money.

1. Chromatic aberations are not noticeable most of the time, even at higher magnifications. 2. 40x to 55x magnificaton is useful, with only a small amount of image softening. 3. Dimming at both higher magnification and low light is just a consequence of physics, not the scope, so no added comment here. 4. No eyepiece lens cap. I substituted the eyepiece insertion hole cover for the cap, but it fits loosely and falls off easily. 5. Focus and magnification adjustments are smooth and easy. 6. Eye relief is good without glasses. Havn't tried it with glasses I always take them off. 7. I tried a few hand held 'digiscoping' shots with my Canon A720 camera and got useful images with the camera at about 4X with noticeable chromatic edges, but I need a fixed camera mount and much more time to experiment. 8. The scope does not have the top end technology of the best scopes, but it would cost a lot more money to get a small increase in viewing quality, and I am the type of person who would worry too much about an expensive scope when I'm using it instead of having fun.

The most compact model in our Ultima series spotting scopes, the 65 mm refractor features a 45 degree viewing angle and excellent mulit-coated optics packed into a portable and durable refractor design and it comes standard with an 18-55x zoom eyepiece.

This series was designed to perform well in a range of viewing situations, making it a great all-around optical instrument. Youll love it for observing nature and long distance spotting and since it is completely waterproof you can feel comfortable using it in extreme weather. The green rubber optical tube allows for subtle observation in any nature environment. Ultima spotters are a great companion for any nature or outdoor enthusiast. Soft carrying case included.
