Setup is a simple as it gets. Plug it in,download the software and your up and running. I have two USB drives plugged in and have been reliably accessing them since installing. Only downside is your bandwidth is limited by your router, so it's best for background tasks.

Setting this up was a snap! Using the pogoplug app and webinterface to access and backup stuff is excellent, but a bit limited out of the box. Instead of installing Archlinux (did that on another pogoplug), on this one I simply installed Optware to add functionality such as: Samba, CUPS (AirPrint) etc. retaining the standard functionality! A tad bit underpowered, but otherwise top notch for reusing old SATA/USB drives for the cloud etc! http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Optware/Packages http://blog.qnology.com/2013/11/how-to-install-optware-and-samba-on.html

My first unit arrived DOA but with outstanding service from Adorama I got it replaced in a few days. Just plug it in, activate it using your computer and off you go. Work great on IPad3, Android and Desktop. It has built in video and audio player so you should be able to play music and video right off of your android or ipad without having to download any additional app. The video is a bit choppy but other than that I am happy with this device.

The device comes with one SATA and three USB ports so it can attach to many devices directly. Out of the box it can be used for media sharing. But I bought this because it can be loaded with Archlinux. That turns the device into a powerful low power Linux embedded device. I used it to offload media and printer sharing from my router since it tend to choked up whenever I use USB sharing. Transfer speed is pretty much limited to 40MB/s due to the weak CPU. But that's still more than I would ask for in a low end device.

I needed a way to have access of documents on multiple devises. I purchased a Toshiba Canvio USB 3 drive that came with a free license for the Pogoplug software. At first when the drive was connected to my computer it worked great. I installed the free software on all my portable devices. Everything was working great. The only problem that I had was my computer would have to be on 24/7/365. Then I found the Pogoplug Series 4 Media sharing device. With a USB 3 ports and being a standalone, this was the answer. But that was when everything started to go bad. 1) It could see the drive on all my devices, but I couldn't do anything with the drive. Read or write to it. 2) On my computer I received a software update for the Pogoplug. Now they want me to purchase a new license for the software. 3) Tech support has no clue on what the problem is. There blaming the Canvio drive, even though it works on the computer. However, I did get it to work with everything but a USB 3 hard drive or USB 3 flash drive. As for the free software license, I uninstalled the new software and I'm using the original software. Would I recommend this item? Yes, I think it's just a software glitch they missed.

It is a little faster than previous versions, with more ports and connection options. Works as a good backup to your machine and media access

This would be nice if it did what it was supposed to. It will recognize the USB3 drives on the USB2 port, but not on the USB3 ports. It will recognize USB2 drives on the USB3 ports. The bottom line is there's no way to get USB3 speeds, which is why I bought it. This seems to be a common problem, although most report it recognizes the drives and then drops them.

Just plug it in and bingo, it works. If you plan to put a lot of data on it, I suggest to copy the data first by pluging in your memory device to your computer to transfer the data.

I've used it for it's intended purpose and it's great for that but i find much more use after installing Arch Linux. I've got mine setup as a router after adding a usb3.0 wireless card and a usb3.0 ethernet adapter. Very low power usage and much more powerful and flexible than my last router

Hacking Arch Linux on this little box was incredibly easy and allows it to act as a great little embedded linux box. This turns it into a simple NAS, cloud file sharing device, print server with Airprint & Google Cloud Print support, and more. The pogoplug software can still be used under arch linux as well. This model is not as fast as the E02 pogoplugs, but those are getting hard to find new today. This device is also much smaller than the E02 and has integrated SATA, 2x USB 3.0, and an SDHC slot.

It was as easy as stated to connect the pogoplug. This will be awesome for our vacations by being able to upload pictures for family and friends to see. Also great for accessing documents that I should have with me but don't when I'm away from home.

I use this for backing up photos off-site (not at my house). So far, it's been fine. Setup with backup software is taking some time to get right, but ultimately not a bad, cheap option for off-site backup.

This is a great product for storing files you may need at a moments notice. I use it with my Mac, Linux and Wondows machines without any issues. Great for iPhone and iPad storage as well. I only wish there was a way to put an on-board storage device in a more permenant area, like an internal bay that can be closed.
