I own two speed rings from CL. This is by far the sturdiest. If you use the Pocket Wizard Flex system with the Pocket Wizard Hard RF Shield then you will need to find a way to elevate the flash to fit the bracket. I did it with a couple of pins from an unused light stand.

I got this to use my LumoPro LP160 flash with the softbox I purchased. I was a bit hesitant about needing a special ring for my flash, but that is the case with most quality lighting modifiers. The ring is made of metal, so it is sturdy, but not super heavy. The inner ring turns to allow you to turn your softbox or other CL modifier. It has no real purpose with a square softbox, but with anything else, it would allow some cool changes without having to move your softbox The little friction nubs are a little tight out of the box, but with a few turns, they loosen up

This adapter allows you to mount any Recessed Front or Flat Front Softbox for use with your portable flash system.
Although the unit is named the Nikon/Canon Speedring, it is fully compatible with similar sized flashes with a standard hot shoe from a variety of manufacturers.
