This modifier is light weight and easy to set up and take down when you dont have time to fuss with studio softboxes and still can maintain a studio look to your images while on location. If you're looking for a truly qucik fix for portable lighting then this modifier, a portable flash unit and a couple of pocket wizards should do the trick. This modifier produces a nice soft wrap around light for portraits without scattering the light from a shoot through umbrella. Get 1 or 2 at Adorama Today, and you won't be dissappointed.

First to the guy above making the review of this product.. First of all using SB900's "IN" a studio already tells me what skill level you are at and really should not be giving a review on this product. The reason why is you do not know "How" to use your equipment nor do you understand lighting at all. First and foremost you or anyone else should "NEVER" be using a hotshoe flash in softbox type of modifier. Why may you ask? because its like putting a spot light in a lamp shade and then saying the lamp shade doesnt make the light soft or work. Duh.. Enclosed softbox types of "Halos" "Soft-boxes" "Enclosed Umbrellas" like this one are made to be used with a "BARE" Tube head! So the light is scattering all around inside the modifier before it goes out the front diffused panel. 2nd your hotshoe flash your using is pointing a spot light in the middle of that umbrella and has little chance of making the light source "Large" and soft.. Hence why you see no to little difference using this product than your ordinary umbrellas. Perhaps most newbies should spend less time writing reviews and perhaps more time learning their craft before giving advice on a product. Or better yet more time learning about light then reading forums on lighting gear.. But hey thats why we see 90% of those that call themselves pros when in reality they are nothing but gear heads.

OK product. I used two with a pair of Nikon SB 900's in studio for portraiture. Can't say I find these better than regular umbrellas and therefore find no compelling argument for these. Maybe will use them again but .... I didn't find the liqht quality from these essentially different from either shoot-through or reflected white umbrellas.

A truly unique lighting tool. Combining the directional quality of the umbrella, with the softness and evenness of a softbox. The CL Softbox Umbrella is conceived as a one step set-up solution for some of the trickiest lighting situations.
The non-removable translucent fabric covers the front of the umbrella. So, as light reflects from the color correct white fabric, it passes through the translucent layer softening the light, hiding imperfections in the subjects surface, like skin blemishes or wrinkles. The heavy duty construction ensures it will hold up to professional use whether it is in your studio or in the trunk of your car.
