Compact for wilderness location shoots

By

I bought this cable release to shoot waterfalls in the Smokies with my new old Canon AE-1 Program, and I must say it doesn't get a whole lot better. With some filters and some Ilford film, you're in monochrome heaven -- provided you're smart enough to get this cable release. Twenty inches is just enough length to run from the Canon's shutter release to my hand, working from a tripod (as I usually do, for exposures between 1/15 and 2 sec.) or by stabilizing the camera on a rock or handrail (for the same). It's also enough to roll up compactly and stick in a cargo shorts pocket or waist pack -- I use the latter to carry notes, film, and other things, and the cable release is so light you hardly know you're carrying it. It seems to be pretty solidly built; it survived my first hiking trip with it and I'm sure it'll survive more. I can't wait to get into some macro shooting with it once I get more glass.

Adorama's Cable Release is high quality

By

The Nikon Df is back to the future. With most modern DSLRs using electronic cable releases I was hard pressed to find someone who carried the cable release of yesteryear. Adorama never fails me.

Top Quality and Functionality

By

from San Luis Obispo, California  -  Semi-Professional

One of the best non-electronic cable releases I've used in over 40 years. My primary application is in nature and portrait photography, with my non-electronic Rollieflex and Hasselblads, off a tripod and for extended (1/15 sec. and longer) exposures. When I use those cameras, I simply don't leave home without it.

Does the job

By

from WV  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

It does the job just fine, and I would have given this a 5 star rating if it weren't for the fact that the little knob at the end of the plunger worked its way off the 2nd day I was shooting with this. I wasn't able to find it, so now I'm stuck pressing the bare stem with my thumb, which honestly kinda hurts.
