Does exactly what it is suppose to do. Trigger the shutter. I haven't completely run it through it's paces extensively yet but seems to work just fine. Adorama got it here in record time too. The device comes in two parts with a battery. You can attach the reciever to the hotshoe but is small enough to pin to your camera strap or something else if hotshoe is in use. The transmitter has a telescoping attena. Sorta reminds me of some James Bond spy detonating device. I plan to use it to trigger my bulb setting for light painting and the like. Unsure of the durability since i haven't had it to long but it is small and the plastic housing seems average at best. But i suppose they are all like that. Especially at this price point.

The instructions are in broken English and don't really make much sense. My boyfriend and I had a good laugh reading them out loud. However, using it is fairly intuitive and I got by without the instructions by just playing around with it for a little. So far, it works great. If you're close enough to your camera, you don't need the antenna, and it's a great way for me to finally be able to get in the photos, too. My one complaint is that it is not very securely mounted to the hot shoe. It supposedly screws to tighten, but you can kind of just keep going with the screw and so it loosens on its own if you bump it the wrong way. When I was traveling in New York, it kept falling off. I was kind of surprised that I wasn't able to find a Canon version, this one's a little chintzy, but I chose it over the Canon remote because you don't have to point it directly at the infrared sensor on the camera.

I wanted this for when I have long exposures on the tripod, makes it easier to not move the camera at all by using the remote. Works great for that. So far it's great, but I wish the instructions weren't in "engrish" but had a better translation. Took me longer to decipher them than it should have.

Good product and price point. I like that the signal can go through walls and is able to send over 25 feet way.

I bought this mainly to use in some bird photo opportunities such as near a nest or feeder. Also thought it would be useful for taking pictures of my wife and I during our travels in lieu of asking someone to take our picture as some scenic spot. It has functioned mostly when I needed it, but I have had problems with a depleted battery in the transmitter on two occasions, first when it arrived with the battery dead, and the second, three months later on a hike in Utah, when for some reason I found the new major brand transmitter battery was dead. Because I did not have a spare battery on my person, and would have had no way to replace the battery if I had a spare one because the transmitter requires the removal of two tiny screws to open the case, I was not able to use it when I wanted it most. When you open the transmitter, you'll be amazed at how flimsy the construction is, and I can't see doing this in the field in any case. If you buy one of these, add a small screwdriver like you use on eyeglasses to your toolbag, buy spare batteries, and check the thing before you head out in the field so you can work on it in a protected area if necessary. I really don't understand why the new battery depleted so quickly in the transmitter. By the way, different reviewers talk about different battery types so the design must have evolved. My receiver has a 3v lithium battery and the transmitter has a 12 volt A23 alkaline battery. Would be nice if they were both the same type. In summary, I'm satisfied at the price point for this device, but I'm not at all sure of its dependability.

This is a great gadget to have in your camera bag. I have used it often. It's good to use if shooting birds in and out of bird houses. Anything that moves fast.

Allows you to get up close to birds and animals without placeing yourself or the animal in harms way. Great for Hummingbird shots. I use it a lot for close-up/marco work as well to eliminate camera shake;

I got this for remote firing of my Canon 5d and it works great. I do not use it every day but for occasional use it has worked every time. Much less expensive than the Canon solution. Does not seem like it would take a lot of abuse, but for my use it has perfomed as advertised.

This thing works about half the time. Will not work in bulb mode. Not impressed at all but will probably keep using it since I paid [$] for it. At least for now. If I was being paid for a shoot I would be entirely unhappy as half the time this will not fire the shutter.

For the price of under $25 you can't go wrong with this wireless remote. However be patient the first time around, the instructions are not all that user friendly. Nowhere in the instructions does it tell you that you have to hold down the trigger until the shutter trips. The way the construction looks and feels it would come across as one touch and the there ya go. No, maybe I'm just dense but I fiddled with this thing for 40 minutes. Long story short, yes I would buy it again, other than that it is a good little remote, fits nicely, built fairly well, and it does what its suppose to.

I purchased this remote release in 2010 and have been using it lightly over the past year or so. It functions reasonably well, given the price. I have had a few instances where it seemed like the receiver wasn't picking up my button presses on the transmitter, but for the most part it has worked well. This morning, however, I noticed that the antenna in the transmitter was loose, like it had broken free. I opened the case and discovered that the only attachment the antenna had to the circuit was a tiny bit of solder. There was no strain relief or anything to prevent movement of the antenna from breaking the solder joint. I used hot glue to secure the antenna base to the circuit board and re-soldered the connection at the end and now everything is great. Better than new even.

Works great with my Canon 30D. No complaints. User guide needs improvement however, the unit is easy to use.

I set up a small studio over my garage with studio type flash for portraits and product photos. I wanted the ability to shoot wireless for the freedom and the stablility of not touching the camera while shooting. The Canon solutions were $440 and up, way out of my range, and this unit filled the bill perfectly. I'm sure the Canon unit is a lot more rugged than this, but so far it has worked perfectly in light duty for six months. And using standard AAA batteries is a big plus.

I used this to take some portrait shots and it worked about half the time. It seemed like the cord wasn't creating a good connection, because sometimes I could press it in a little further and get it to work, using the shutter release on the cable. However, I couldn't get the wireless remote to work more than a third of the time. The "manual" was not helpful - could barely understand it. However, I will continue to try to work with this and see if I can learn to make it more reliable for myself.

I searched through all the reviews trying to decide if this was worth my money. To get to the point, yes it is. Normally I live by the mantra "You get what you pay for" but this is an Adorama product its got to be worth SOMETHING, and if not they are reliable enough of a company to refund me. But that won't be necessary. At a small fraction of the price of the Canon product, and more useful since it doesn't require line of sight, this thing is great. My only complaint is I wish they would have had someone who speaks English fluently write the instruction manual. Living in Japan I have to deal with enough broken English and bad translations, I don't really want to deal with it from the manual of a product I brought from the States that's marketed to American consumers. But that is a small complaint. Well worth the money especially if your just starting out, or don't see the need in paying a large amount of money for a product that won't function as well.

I received this as gift, however it was a requested one. Its a great affordable alternative to a wired trigger. The half click focus is a must and this device comes threw in that regard. believe it our not the little antenna is required, which makes the trigger a little delicate. But this is really the only draw back to the product.

The product works fine once it has a functional battery. I got two shots and then had to replace the transmitter battery. [...]Bottom line, does what it says and is a good value if you don't need to run out and buy a battery

I purchased the remote release to use for portrait shoots (specifically for an upcoming wedding) as well as other posed shots to reduce camera shake. It works well about 75% of the time. Chief complaints are that it turns itself off too quickly and yesterday, during a portrait sitting, it was on and still wouldn't fire. Think it's going back and an upgrade will be purchased.

Being fond of wildlife, especially flying things, I can now pre-prosition my camera close to objects that birds, butterflies, moths, etc frequent without making them nervous. Birds tend to watch where I am and ignore the camera. The range is excellent. Being plastic and light it feels flimsy but is sturdier than first realized. It could use a strap.

The product itself works great - once you can figure it out. The "instructions" it comes with are cryptic at best - they're actually more funny than helpful as you can tell it's very poorly translated. That said, you're on your own on figuring out how this baby works. Luckily, it's pretty straightforward. Once you get it working, it works like a charm.

Realized the transmitter is only "On", when you hit the button. No need to remove the battery.

I used the Canon RC-1 for years, but it only works if you are closer than about 15 feet and sunlight hits the sensor, it wouldn't work. This remote is much better. I went on the other side of my house with two three walls between me and the camera. The remote still triggered the shutter. I would recommend this to any photographer wanting to use a remote.

I do wish the transmitter also had an "on-off" switch. Simply removing the battery does serve the purpose. I've also found that it has a good range even without extending the antenna.

This remote works as advertised. Have used it on numerous occasions and so far has been 100% reliable. Its range is excellent - have tested it up to 75 feet and it works flawlessly - and with no line of sight required. Haven't used it long enough to comment on durability or battery life.

Overall, very good function. Very light weight. Just wish the remote transmitter had an on/off switch. The receiver has one, but the remote does not. I always worried, when traveling, that the button would be pressed in my backpack and the battery would be dead when I needed to use the kit. Had to take extra care to position it so it wouldn't be pressed. but finally gave up and pulled the battery when I packed it.

Eliminates the need for a cable release. Allows the camera to be fired from a distance up to 100 ft. uses RF (radio frequency) signals, not line-of-sight like infrared. Transmitter has a 2 position switch...press lightly for prefocusing, and then continue pressing to release the shutter. LED lights indicate prefocus and exposure. May be used on up to 16 channels...user settable.
