This is a good third party release and I buy them in multiples as I drop and smash them from time to time. What I like about this release is that the attachment to the camera has a rubber friction hold gasket that means I never screw it in (which is a real pain to do). Yes it does come lose from time to time, but mostly the rubber gasket holds it in place.

I have wanted a cable release for my Nikons for years but felt they were way too expensive for what the do. The Adoarama release works beautifully on both my D200 and new D800.

I really rely on this remote release cord for my D300S. I have a wireless remote and it isn't as handy as this one.

I bought this same unit for under seven dollars in Aug. 2011 under the Vello name. Last week the wiring broke and I had to throw it away. My biggest complaint was that it's so easy to press the Lock mode, it'll fire a dozen shots before you realize it and unlock it. Many times I'd think I was doing auto-bracketing for HDR shots and didn't pay attention until it took way too many shots. I just bought a different brand and am paying more this time for a better unit.

Works on the D300s, and obviously costs much less than the alternative. I had no problems plugging/screwing it into the camera. It is easy to accidentally move the switch over the button and you end up taking more photos than intended if the camera is in continuous shot mode. Even if it ends up being a piece of junk and only lasts a year, at this price I can afford to buy more.

Best use is landscape photography when shooting long exposures. This remote release has a little switch because of which you dont have to hold the remote for long exposures. Believe me this is a very nice feature, since holding shutter for long time can be such a pain.

It did the job for a few times of usage. But one time I turned my camera horizontal or vertical back and force, with the attached cable slightly twisted around (the long line seemed bothering when I stay with my camera), the cable line wrapper was broken, though the lines inside seemed remain unbroken, it became uncontrollable. I have to throw it away.

Excellent buy for the money. Works great, very reliable. A little hard to screw the connector into the camera body due to the cramped space between the plug and threaded ring. For the price, you can't beat it however.

I especially like the quick push in connector without the time consuming threaded tightener. This remote is still better value than the Nikon brand for over $150. I used this for about three years, until it failed. After trying a few more cheap ones[*] which are now trashed, I came back to this one.

Plug it in to my Nikon 200 and take pictures when I push the button. Thats what I needed and that is what it does.

The plug was always difficult to insert into the camera, eventually came apart as I was removing it. Only used it about 5 or 6 times. Invest the extra $30 for the Nikon cable, it will out last the camera instead of the opposite.

Works well with my D300, my unit also has a threaded ring that is difficult for my fingers to really grasp well. With a little patience, it just adds a feeling of security knowing that the cord is threaded into place. I will add that it also works without being threaded into place. If all you really need is to fire the camera without shake, this unit does just fine. I would rather save the money vs. the Nikon brand and move on...

I use this for portrait photography and maybe some scenic on occasion. Have waited too long to purchase this product it is great for portraits! Did not know what I was missing for candid shots. I love it so far.

Works well but there is a lock mechanism and you need to be careful it is not set before attempting to open the shutter.

I love this little gadget and carry it in my bag all the time. It is used every time I'm photographing images using a tripod. It functions just fine and I have no complaints.

Inexpensive and works like a champ on my Nikons. Not exactly built like a tank -- wouldn't want this to get banged around at all but for the price it does what it is supposed to do.

A great remote at a fraction of the price of the brand named equivalent. Why pay more????

I was looking for something to use with the tri pod for fireworks and landscape shots. Have since used it in many other situations. Have even used it as a dash cam with the camera fastened from the rear view mirror. Very well made. A value for the price.

Works great, perhaps as well as Nikon's own expensive one. But be careful when you take this off the body - this may "touch" the lense body and leave mark.

Can't comment on durability yet. Feels somewhat flimsy, but works fine for two weeks now. Use for HDR series, macro, lower light landscape

What's not to like. Works just like the Nikon product at much less cost. Great for times when vibration control is a must. It's not something you use every day, so reliability should not be a problem. Plug fits fine into D300.

Item is really very good and straight forward to use. One of my favorite gadgets in my Nikon Gear. [...] It's not easy to fit - you may be very careful because you will destroy the 10 pins and won't fit any more![...]looks it works fine so far!

I've been using this cable every day for two weeks now and I'm very happy with it. I use it on a D200 and so far it has worked as it should. I haven't had it long enough to judge how 'durable' it is but it seems pretty sturdy. Most importantly, it does what it needs to do. I'm pleased with the purchase and would definitely recommend it.

I was expecting a product that was "cheap" in quality however I was surprised by the rugid construction.

The remote release allows the camera to be released from a distance. All electronic, just plug in and use. 36" long, has a momentary release as well as a locking position for time release
