I love this camera because you are always surprised by the results... in the digital age where everything is on demand, the holga is a nice throwback to the good old days. once you get to know the camera, it is loyal and a deal at less than $40!

Better images then i was expecting... in fact, the first roll came out almost too good. Less darked corners then i expected, and no light leaks... unless you forget to put one of the masks in before loading the film.(although that roll was so interesting i might try it again) Be prepared to experiment a lot but come away with at least a few interesting images on every roll from the first one on. If you alerady have a film scanner of any kind that will accept 120 negs then i deffinatly recommend trying it out as the cost is almost nothing to develop the roll. I get mine developed [...] and scan it on an Epson flatbed at home. I heard a lot of not so good things about the earlier versions of this camera, but this one just works right out of the box with no taping or painting the inside, or using velcro to keep it closed. Unfortunatly the flash is annoyingly bright but still somehow underpowered if you are taking pictures of people 5-10 feet away. Also the bulb setting is almost useless unless you are going to be taping the button down for a few minutes or hours or are in a really dark place with a really, really bright flash going off. Loading takes practice if your used to cameras made in the last 20 years. These cons are quite minor though and easy to work around... They just add to the experiance. This camera forces you to be every bit as creative as people say.

These cameras are so simply constructed, and I have not heard of this being a common flaw. I'm sure I just happened to get a bad apple.

The world famous Medium-format wonder! A cult favorite with a fanatical global following, the Holga produces extraordinary low-tech works of art with the bare minimum of mechanical function. Soft focusing, full double-exposure capability, intense vignetting, and unpredictable light leaks all contribute to the Holga's incredible photo effects. Each Holga is unique and produces signature images and peculiarities of its own. Buy several and throw some wood on your creative fire! Uses 120 film. (2 AA batteries required for use. not included)
