Questions & Answers

Shopper : Will this adapter work to mount the Quantum Flast model to my camera's hot shoe??BENJIE U : yes, they are standard socket sizes for photographyBRAD B : It'll connect with any device that has a standard tripod socket. My only concern would be the weight of the Quantum. The adapter is plastic. It's strong, but the combination of weight and leverage might cause problems. I'd try the adapter with your camera and the Quantum in a store before buying it.
JONATHAN F : Are there two knob pieces, i.e. one that can spin up to tighten against the threads, and one to spin down to hold the adapter (and whatever is on top) snug in the hotshoe?NEIL H : Yes, that is correct. It has proven very secure in my uses.WESLEY S : There are two knobs that both can be moved up or down. It fits into the hot shoe then I tighten one know down to make it tight enough to not come off by accident. I use it for a light meter on my Mamiya C330F and I find it to be very convenient and handy. It is much cheaper and than the Gossen adapter and can be used for other things if one wanted too. I recommend it.BROOK C : yep there are two and they spin independently. exactly as you stated. :)SAM M : Yes, the two (2) knurled pieces are shown against each other, and work as you expect. This is a really useful little adapter which works much better for me than some "original equipment" adapters. I also carry one of these to use with a pro shotgun mic on a video camera.BRAD B : I couldn't find the adapter, Jonathan, but I'm sure threaded disks locked it in place both in the shoe and against whatever device you attach to it.ALFONSO B : yes there are, ( two)LYNN J : No. The knurled knob tightens against the body of the camera/device or flash to prevent cinching the post into the device's socket. The shoe relies on the hotshoe bracket spring retention device to hold it firm. If you have a loose fit, try inserting a piece of 3x5 card or matchbook cover under the foot. That has worked for me for 50 years. I have a handful of these little things, they're great.
d o : Will this shoe fit the Vanguard VT-126 tripod?LYNN J : It has a standard 1/4x20 thread. Some tripod sockets are larger, so get the threaded insert to reduce it to 1/4x20.STEVEN C : Item is used to provide a tripod mountable device to be mounted on the flash hot shoe. i.e., a digital sound recorder on a DSLR.KAREN A : It's intended to slide into a flash shoe on a camera, not onto a tripod. In that context it does exactly that. It's not a tripod plate if that's what you're looking for. KarenJOHNNY Y : No this will not fit the tripod, but will thw cold shoe slot of a video or DSL camera or a Bracket1 A Versatile Bracket System for your Video Camera and DSLR Accessories. Bracket 1 is the Professional Solution for mounting Wireless Receivers and Hard Disk Recorders to your camcorder or Transformer DSLR Rig Video Bracket.

Simple and Invaluable

Small, inexpensive and must have in certain situations. This is my second one. They are small and take up zero room. Great for attaching AD200 or any other flash with 1/4-20 thread female insert to any rig that has a standard flash mount type receptacle.

Dual function

Exactly what I needed! This device gives me the ability to attach a Go Pro to the top of DSLR, thus I can record video while shooting stills. Yes, the shutter click is quite audible on the video, but I use a separate audio recorder, so this is not an issue. I recommend this for anyone who needs to use two cameras at the same time.

Don't expect cheap plastic

Sometimes, small handy items like the screw adapter are plastic and won't tighten down enough. I was delighted to find that this one is metal and well made. I don't like to have LEDs or other gear relying on flimsy plastic. This adapter is small, lightweight and sturdy. Great to have in a pinch.

small but so important

Adorama service has been as good as it gets. This purchase is such a minor piece of gear but you absolutely need it when you need it and it does exactly what it was supposed to and I trust it no mater what angle the camera is on.

accessory

A customer asked if this could be used on his tripod. The answer is "no" since it's menat to be used in a hot/cold shoe of a camera. I use it to attach my Zoom audio recorder to my DVX-100 camcorder.

Now the Cold Shoe is on the other foot!

When you just HAVE to add some 1/4x20 threaded item to your camera and all you have is a cold/hot shoe. I use it to attach a little shade umbrella to my Sony A1U while shooting long exteriors and works like a charm.

not too bad

this piece isn't too wimpy, I wish the metal part that goes into the shoe was a little beefier.. I have this for mounting a Quantum Q-Flash to stroboframe so we'll see how long it takes to fail. There are only a few options for 1/4-20 to hotshoe and this will be fine for a light head like Norman/ Lume but I'm a tad nervous with the Q-Flash.

Male to Male Wonder

Works great. Added a small ballhead to the top of a flip-frame so I could add Swivel to a Speedlight with no swivel. Now I can bounce anywhere .

After 20 some years, I finally found it.

I use it on a camera handle mount to attach a wired TTL flash which can be detached to shine on the subject at any handheld angle I want off the lens axis. Great gizmo.
