I'm giving this 3 stars because although I didn't like the tank, the spool did allow me to develop 110 film. I bought this specifically to develop 110 film, as this was the cheaper / easier alternative to modifying a Paterson spool or buying a used spool online. I seemed to have the same issues as some of the other reviews; the tank seems very cheaply made and could use modifications out of the gate. I personally didn't like the way the lid attaches, I couldn't get it to snap in place so it was never locked down. I'm not sure if this is a fault in my tank, or just the design. I was able to develop a roll in it with no major issue, but the tank can't be inverted, and it seems like it takes forever to drain the chemicals back out of it. For my second roll, I used the Yankee clipper spool in my Paterson system 4 tank, which worked a lot better. I would recommend this method to anyone, but I don't know that I'd recommend it to someone planning to use this tank. Adorama shipped very quickly, and everything was packaged well. Overall I'm happy with my purchase, as I can now develop 110 one roll at a time in my Paterson tank!

Better than nothing for 110 and 16mm because nothing else is available... that's why I gave it three stars. Consider it a kit....you'll have to finish it yourself. Every one of them will need the stirrer bit, sometimes a thermometer, o this to be filed down to fit the hole correctly. Do this BEFORE you load film in. Once it begins turning, then you can put your film inside. Run a strip of tape across the top because there is no latching system.....very easy for the lid to open. If you are not doing 110 or 16mm film, buy something else.

..simply because there are no others for developing 110 or 16mm film. It is very flimsy in the way it is made with fittings that are 'just good enough'. You cannot invert the tank - you must use the agitation bar to agitate your film which I don't feel like I have as much control over because it often sticks in agitation. I wouldn't recommend it for everyday developing however I would recommend it for 110 and 16mm film. There just are many options there.

I wish I had heeded the reviews of some others and not bought this thing. Here's why: The agitator was wider than the diameter of the hole in the cover; I had to force it to get it down to the point where it will engage the octagon in the hub of the reel (very poor design). At that point you cannot turn it because the agitator is wedged into the hole. I had to file it down considerably just to get it into the hole in the cover with enough play so that it will turn. I decided to keep it only because I don't do much film work; just kind of playing around with B&W. Besides, I don't want to throw good money after bad and have to pay for sending it back. To anyone who plans to do serious film developing: spend the money and buy a good one. I would give it a rating of zero stars if I could. No fault of Adorama - they provide great service in a timely manner. I like doing business with them.

Ive been using tanks since the beginning (1972)and its worth the extra money not to be dissapointed. I do my share of business with Adorama and happy 99% of the time and thats good and will continue to buy from them. They are fast when processing your order. This was my first return.

This tank is flimsy and broke on me almost immediately. The method of agitation is garbage.

This one slipped past the Quality Control inspectors. Apparently the molding process didn't perform as intended. The interior surface of the center hole in the cap and the surfaces of the agitating thermometer are so rough you cannot agitate the film as intended. This particular example of this product is unusable.

This is a great tank at a great price. I've been using it for about a year with no problems at all. I use the adjustable reel mostly for 120, but occasionally for 35mm as well. The product feels very plasticy, but is really very hard. One of my favorite things about this tank is that liquids bead off the exterior, making filling very easy even without a funnel, cleaning is a breeze too. It's also completely light tight. I've never had any problems with light leaks, etc, but I usually try to keep it in subdued light just to be safe. I originally bought this tank thinking it would be a good starting point, but I can't see any reason to ever any other tank!
