Nice bag for the money

Very nice bag for the money. Nice heavy shoulder straps and heavy duty clasp. Easy to care and equipment secure. Love the upside down zippered pocket on the inside flap. Stuff doesnt fall out when you open zipper. Nice looking, too, doesnt look like a camera bag.

Great walkaround bag

Excellent walkaround bag. In my case, it stores a mid-size SLR with a prime lens attached, a spare zoom lens, and external flash in the zippered pocket. Equipment is easy to get and put back, and the bag is very lightweight and comfortable in the best Domke tradition. The only gotcha is that the velcro closure on the flap is very noisy, so get your camera out before entering quiet environment. I will probably eventually replace velcro with snap or other type of closure.

Good looking, well built, functional

I just received this Domke F-10 from Adorama. I was looking for a bag that looked good, wasn't too large, and would carry my XTI, with either two additional lenses or one lens and my 550ex Speedlight flash. This bag looks like a winner. Compact, clean-looking. Looks well built. The bag comes with a non-removable long shoulder strap, a detachable medium strap and a built in hand-grip strap on the top of the bag. The bag has two velcro dividers in the main compartment. My XTI fits nicely in the middle of the main compartment, with the 75-300 lens attached, pointing down. The handgrip overlaps into one of the outside compartments, but still leaves room in that outside compartment for my 17-50 lens. The other outside compartment is large enough for another extended zoom lens. There are two zippered pockets on the bag, a very large one on the outside, large enough for a point/shoot camera, batteries, filters, cards. That pocket is 10" at the top, 6" at the bottom and 6 1/2" tall. Expanded, it is 2" deep. The other pocket is in the flap of the bag. It is not very deep, and doesn't appear to all that useful. With the flap 'up', and the zipper open, items in this pocket will fall out, as all of the storage room is above the zipper. The main flap of the bag is secured in a locked position by both a very large velcro strip, and a metal clip. The velcro is very loud when opened. I'll probably have my wife sew some cloth around most of the velcro to limit the strength of that connection. I like the metal clip - it looks like it will last much longer then the normal plastic clips on most bags. Likes about the bag: Looks, size, workmanship. Dislikes about the bag: The velcro closure is too noisy Rating 1 to 10: 9

Questions about this item:

Shopper  I am looking for a bag, preferably Domke, to hold just a Nikon D800 with a 24-120 lens attached. No room for other equipment is necessary. Any suggestions?
ANDREW R  I like the look of the domke bags, but I don't really feel like the F-10 JD is big enough or protective enough for the d800 with a lens attached. I can fit my d800 in this bag with my 28-300 zoom attached and the bag will close. The body sticks out from the top of the bag by approximately 2 inches like that, but the flap will close and the clasp locks into its loop . That being said, the padding is pretty minimal in this bag. If you ever dropped the bag with a lens attached you'll definitely damage your lens and camera (I've had this happen with a different bag with a bit more padding). I keep my d3100 and two lenses in this bag, but don't shoot with that rig very often anymore. For the smaller camera its a very good fit.
Shopper  I have an old F-2 original which is wearing out (after 30 years!) and I'd like to replace it with something smaller for casual travel photography. I'd like to use the F-10 JD as an airline carryon and put in my Nikon D300s with 18-200 attached, and a Sigma 10-20 zoom, with a filter or two, extra memory cards, and phone, iPod, and a paperback book. Would the F-10 accommodate this?
Andrew R  Unfortunately the F-10 JD might be a little too small for your needs. The D300 plus 18-200 may be a tight squeeze. This bag is really a better fit for a compact DSLR (like a D3100 or Canon Rebel). Though not as compact, the F-8 ( http://www.adorama.com/DMF8RW.html ) might be a better fit.
