A Great Old School bag for a Good Old School Shooter.

I have owned the Double bag for years and it has always served me well. This one is a little smaller and I actually mistook it for the Original bag and then I noticed that the pockets under the top flap have cover flaps to protect the contents. The pouch on the back side also has a zipper and more storage space than the F2 bag. This one has been a good choice for carrying my Nikon mirrorless camera, flash, extra lenses and all of the other junk photographers are know for carrying. Love it even though the top is not zipped to protect the bag contents. I guess that I am lucky enough to not be spoiled to the point that I need waterproof protection, tabs and pockets for every electronic device known to man and their chargers and WIFI contraptions. I am a photographer and I make both film and digital images. Love it, would recommend it in a second and would buy again if the needs present themselves.

good/bad

I am giving 4 out of 5 stars because the lens compartment, which holds 4 lens, barley holds two professional lenses.

Two kits -- yes

Alright. Have room for Nikon D90 with Tokina super wide zoom, and D7100 with 18-200, flash, dozen filters, chargers, small zoom video, a 35mm lens and a 50mm 1.4. Now, which ever one I want in the small backpack goes over to that and I carry little weight with the Domke left in the car trunk. Not for checking on an airline, padding is lacking and security is modest, but a great grab and go set up for the full team of tools.

Great bag

I bought this bag used although it did not look used. I currently use it to carry the following: E-1, E-420 DSLRs, 14-54, 25mm, 40-150, 9-18, 70-300, 50mm om 1.8 lenses, FL-50 and 285HV flashes, various filters, chargers for cameras and AA/AAA, 6 batteries, 3 manuals, small reflector, 1 wireless flash transmitter, 2 wireless receivers and a couple snack bars. I also use the loops on the bottom to attach my tripod/bag with ball-bungies. Works great, although it is a bit heavy. Used mostly to work out of on trips so it tends to stay in the back of the car and I simply pull what is needed for my smaller bag to carry with me.

If you must own one camera bag...

This bag was a great buy for about [$]. The accessory that was optional to turn this into a backpack was also great. But there are many flaws with this bag.Pros of the bag:1)Great to wear everyday because it looks normal.I got it in black so I can wear it around the city and not be noticed. Having thousands of dollars of equipment is such a nuisance to handle just by yourself.2) The description is correct. I am able to fit 2-3 slrs and still have space for more. I can have 3 slrs, 3 flashes and pocket wizards, a small tripod and still have room for some extra stuff. ( tape, film, clothes, notepads)Cons:1) I did not opt for any of the optional accessories. I just found some spare backpack straps and looped some key rings at each end and attach it to the bag. Straps are not worth 30 dollars.2) The bottom is not padded well at all. I sometimes carry my 70-200mm lens around the city and in order for me to carry multiple bodies I have to face the lens downwards into one of the mid section dividers. I would always have to think twice about putting my bag down. Something the manufacturer should have taken care of for us consumers. I would like to have peace of mind if I'm spending [$] on a bag.2) The hooks are POORLY designed. They are extremely hard to open and close. Reaching into my bag always causes me frustration. It always pinches me and I have to struggle to get the bag closed. It would have helped if the designer of the bag included Velcro underneath the lip of the bag so if the photographer was in a run and gun situation he would have to struggle for about 5 secs just to open or close his bag. I have replaced the hooks with some carabiners.(common hooks that are easily strapped in and out but also locks into place easily when needed. And I am going to modify the lip by adding my own Velcro underneath the lip.3. The handle for the bag when using in the suitcase position is made out of strong material. I believe it is steel or something as rigid as that. And it makes carrying the bag very uncomfortable if held for a long period of time. I wish it was padded and I wouldn't have to do it myself.Overall it is still a good bag for its price. I prefer messenger bags since they down make us photographers sweat on our backs any more than we need. A conventional photographer's backpack are so easily spotted as well. Messengers are the way to go, but when you want to remove the stress on that one shoulder, I'd like to put on the self made backpack straps. Good spacious bag for it's price, but could have been much better with some simple improvements.

Enormously versatile BIG bag

I do semi-pro sports photography and need to carry five (5) lenses including an 80-200, extra batteries, two telextenders, and two large pro camera bodies. I jumped at the chance to buy this used for 1/2 price, and it fit the bill. You can buy extra foam inserts and configure the interior anyway you wish. The end pockets are huge..easily hold large flashes...in my case, one hold four big batteries for my D1H backup camera, the other holds two sets of protective raingear for the two cameras. For transport, I place my monopod across the top and strap the lid over it...travels nicely, but be sure you need it. Because this bag is BIG and therefore cumbersome compared to say the original Domke bag, which I also own and use on one-camera gigs. However, the bag does have an extensive strap and handle system, so it can be configured for many uses, as a backpack, secured to the waist, etc. This is a great bag if you need its size and features. I did, and I wouldn't part with it.

Very nice bag!

I'm am a photojournalist. Helps me take everything I need with me in one bag. From sports to news, I have all my equpment. And than some. Only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the hooks in the front of the bag. Hopefully they might get broken in and a little easier to unhook and hook! Great bag though!

Good but could be sooo much better!

On the inside of the bag only one velcro strip that is either too high or needs another lower. Too limiting for real customization. Needs padding in bottom of outside pockets. Strap needs to be able to be unhooked from bag and should have some sort of padding to ease the load on your shoulder. Strap would benifit from some system to attach additional pockets. Ipod slot would be nice.
