This bag was smaller than I expected even given the dimensions in the description but now that I've had it for a day and have put it through some paces I feel it is a perfect fit for what I need. It is replacing a Lowepro Sideline Shooter waist bag. I had been using the straps as a shoulder sling but in the end was pretty uncomfortable. However, it was about the perfect size for a very portable bag and that's what prompted me to look for a similar bag in a true over-the-shoulder design. My main requirement was to fit a Leica with 50mm lens attached plus two lenses and some accessories. Since I normally keep my Leica strapped to my wrist and out at all times, I usually fill the middle space with something else (film, for example) but I was adamant about getting one that would fit the camera with lens attached in case of rain. It holds more than it seems it should and I'm sure that with age, it will continue to stretch and accommodate a wider array of gadgets. I also wanted it to go unnoticed and it accomplishes this well too. While I am not the biggest fan of the big DOMKE logo on the front flap, the bag is nonetheless stylish and the wax RuggedWear finish gives it a patina that lends a well-worn look and helps it to blend in to the surroundings. It looks like a miniature messenger bag and only those who know the Domke namesake (mainly photogs) would recognize it as a camera bag. It's a perfect NYC bag - just big enough to carry the things you really need. I also own a Lowepro Elite AW bag and although it is more spacious, it is eminently unwieldy due to its thoroughly square shape and sharp corners. It sits on the hip in a very bad way and perhaps worst, makes no effort to be discrete. Black ballistic nylon begone! The waxy, already-worn finish of the F-5XBRW does away with all these things and leaves you with a fashionable, functional alternative. Also, big kudos for the stylish rubberized strips on the inside of the strap. I give it two thumbs up!

Great small bag

By

This Domke is a little on the small side, but I knew that going into the purchase. For me, it fits my D700 with a lens attached and one small/lens.. for instance I use this often with the D700+50mm f/1.4 attached (Off-brand) and also the 35mm f/2. When I don't use this to carry my camera, I will put three speedlights in there and their triggers kinda like a 'speedlight kit'.

I love my Domke bag. This bag is great when you just want to have one camera and maybe one other lens. It's quick, easy, stylish, great bag to have for a one the go person.

Good bag for basic kit

This is a nifty bag that protects my KR. It seems to be really durable but a bit of a lint magnet.

Great bag for minimal gear

By

from Toronto, Canada  -  Photo Enthusiast

This is a great bag for casual photographers and general enthusiasts who don't carry much extra gear. It'll hold a Nikon D3000 (or similar) resting on its side with its kit 18-55mm lens attached, as well as an extra 50mm lens and an SB400 (or similar sized gear), but not much else. It sits comfortably on one's hip or side, but keep in mind that the bag is truly quite small -- for those taller than, say, 5'7 or heavier than, say, 150lb, it might start to look a little ridiculous. Contents are well-secured by padding on front, back, and bottom, as well as both a single top zipper and velcro'ed top flap. Two included partitions allow for flexible set-up of side padding. The heavy canvas material seems hard-wearing and likely to age well, but will only go so far if one's caught in the rain for an extended period of time. A key pro: it looks less like a camera bag than many others on the market, which may be appealing to some for any number of reasons. Given its intended purpose, can't think of many cons. The velcro on the top flap is a little on the excessive side, which means it's very secure but noisy. Not a major issue unless silent operation is desired (easiest fix: tape over some or all of the velcro, leaving only what's needed). The combination of velcro'ed flap and zipper is also a bit overkill, although again, not a major flaw unless fast access is essential. Also, the bag has only two pockets, which given its size wouldn't be a con if the second one were better designed. The first pocket is internal, and is formed by the space between the front padding and the front canvas. It runs the length of the bag, and can be used to stow extra memory cards, filters, etc. The second also runs the length of the bag, and is built into the front of the bag (protected by the flap). Less useful since the top of the pocket can't be closed, which creates a risk that contents may fall out by accident. All in all, an excellent choice for prosumer-types who want to carry around their compact DSLRs and change for the day in a low-profile, no fuss package.

Whenever go out I choice 2 lenses. This F-5XB is very suitable for carring my K10D and 2 zoom lenses (Tamron17-50,Pentax50-135). I stand straight camera with Tamron zoomlens and stand Pentax zoomlens straight beside it. Nobody knows I carry camera because the bag is so casual and cute. I satisfy this bag very much.

Nice day bag

By

Very nice day bag but just a little tight. Another inch in each direction would be great. I have a DSLR with a medium zoom lens and it is too tight to include the sun shade if I also carry a flash unit.

Works for Me

By

from Fairfax, VA  -  Photo Enthusiast

This is my manual bag: it carries an FM2N, 4 primes, plus a flash. (Yes, not much room for film, though.) A few filters and a cable release, and a GorillaPod SLR tucked under the flap. Take away the GorillaPod and it looks like a messenger bag, which suits me fine.
