Well Designed Discreet Bag.

This is a great little bag for carrying one DSLR camera with up to five prime lenses or one or two small rangefinder cameras with up to six prime lenses. It doesn't scream 'camera bag' the way some do, it's very comfortable to carry around and the lens compartment can be moved within the bag. Annoyingly the metal clips on the lid can flop down hard on lenses if you're not careful. Otherwise this is a great product.

Not too little, not too big...just right

By

from Brooklyn, NY  -  Semi-pro Photographer

This has been my main camera bag for about eight years now. I've owned many bags over the years but none have been as inconspicuous, as comfortable or as plainly useful as this one. I use a Domke F-5XB when I want to travel super light and carry just one 35mm body and one or two lenses. When I want to carry a bit more than that, this is what I reach for. It can easily accommodate two RF or SLR 35mm bodies on either side and up to four lenses in the slots. I've also used it to haul a Hasselblad or Bronica MF system with room to spare. I have an F-2 bag as well and when I need to haul even more like one of my Nikon F systems, one or both of my MF systems or some combination of those, it's perfect. Since my needs are routinely less intensive, the F-6 gets daily use. The thing that does it for me with Domke is the way that the fabric relaxes and conforms to you and your gear over time. After a while it becomes a part of you and you hardly notice it's there. The Gripper strap is genius. The smooth and grippy sides each have their uses. When I'm walking I would always have to keep re-positioning the bag but with the grip strap it stays put. It's the little things! As another reviewer pointed out, the top flap clasps can contact your sensitive gear if you're not careful. However, this is the only nag I have about this bag and it's a fairly small one since you quickly get used to manipulating the top fla. It doesn't offer much protection on the sides but I don't mind that since I want it to be as light as possible. All the protection is on the bottom where it should be. The front pocket is actually pretty large and holds a ton of stuff. I have mine loaded with grey cards, filters, film, meters, cable releases, batteries, etc. and there always seems to be room for something else. I love that. I think Domke pricing is a little high across the board ($75 for the tiny F-5XB for example) but in this case, you get what you pay for and what you get is very high U.S. build quality, strong stitching, thoughtful design, comfort and an understated style. All in all a real winner and my favorite bag of all time!

Street photographers dream

By

from PA.  -  Photo Enthusiast

For an everyday on the go, street, zoo, day at the park bag it's second to none. It conforms to your body movement and the rubberized strips keep it secure. It holds my mid sized DSLR with super zoom, a 35mm f1.4 prime , a wide angle zoom and sb-700 flash with a "hole" left over for lens hoods, cleaning cloth etc. The zippered compartments hold spare batteries and the usual bits and pieces. I added two 1/4"x 4" x4" padded squares for a bit of camera protection. The "RuggedWear" quickly develops a well worn patina and it looks better with use. Truthfully I think it's a bit over priced based on materials but it's the only game in town but for the cheap poorly made clones. If you go out for a day "just to take pictures" this bag will fill your needs.

Just the right size for Micro Four-Third

By

from Austin, TX  -  Semi-pro Photographer

This bag is just the right size for my Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera (with the 12-50mm lens attached), three additional lenses, an FL-600 flash, additional polarizer filters, spare battery, additional memory car, ColorChecker Passport, and lens cleaning equipment. The two metal clips are somewhat of a nuisance to deal with, and the outside pocket has not padding or dividers. Those are the only negative things that I have to say about this bag. I did purchase an additional Domke FA-226 two-compartment padded SHORT bag, with the center padded divider removed to put the camera (with lens) into. This was put to one side of the four-compartment that came inside of the bag.

Flexibility Is Its Strength

By

from Charlottesville, Va  -  Semi-pro Photographer

This is not an equipment transport bag. Its strength lies in its ability to be use when compactness and flexibility are required. If you want to carry your entire camera inventory this is not your bag(although another Domke bag might fit that role). This bag will hold a selected set of equipment to perform a specific task(body, couple of lenses, etc). Designed for the photographer on the move. Extra pockets and pouches exist for small items. This is an unobtrusive bad that does not advertise its contents. Usable in both the urban and rural environment. Bag inserts can be used to add organization to the bags interior.

Compact Equipment Carrier

By

from Charlottesville, Va  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Use for carrying small quantities of equipment - especially useful when you require only a couple of lenses and need to be mobile. Does require equipment needs planning, but this is also one of its strengths. The construction is very high quality and it does not advertise its true contents, reducing its theft appeal. Pack has limited padding, however, this helps to reduce its bulk and make it a more effective tool when mobility is a key consideration. This is not a single bag for all purposes, rather a specialty, day use, mobile carrier.

right size bag for a right sized price

By

from Milwaukee, WI  -  Photo Enthusiast

I use this product to with a Nikon DSLR and a couple lenses. This bag is just the right size to store several lenses and a flash. It doesn't look like a camera bag, and the clips are a deterrent to anyone who would try to open your bag while it's on your person. I would recommend buying another 4 compartment divider like the one that comes in the bag and taking the dividers out and using that to pad and store your camera with it's every day lens on it. I do this with my D5000 and 18-105mm lens. Coupled with a Domke post office style shoulder pad, you can carry this bag for a long day and not feel weighted down.

Nice sized bag

By

from Crested Butte, Colorado  -  Pro Photographer

Great bag if you've decided exactly what equipment to carry. It will hold a flash and 4-5 prime lenses or 1-2 pro f2.8 zooms. I have loved Domke bags since they first came out. I just wished I had purchased the original sized bag insteaad. Very comfortable on the shoulder.

Excellent Domke Quality

By

from Cleveland, Oh  -  Photo Enthusiast

As an ex newspaper photog who carried an original F6 Domke for years I found this bag to be perfect for my current needs. I am a casual vacation type shooter today but I really appreciate the Domke quality/functionality even for my limited use today as a hobiest/tourist type of photographer. This bag and a Nikon 5000 with a couple of lens' reminds me of my Nikon F3 days with my orginal F6 bag and 6 lens'. Thanks Domke for a great bag.
