Really Nice Tripod

It depends what your shooting... For me it's really good, it's light and steady. I got it on sale so even better. If you want to spend $300 or more then its common senses that you will get a better one, but if your on a budget and you want something good, then get it..

get what you pay for

The ballhead is smooth and stable but the leg twist locks are not. I made sure that it used an arca style universal quick release so that my Kirk L-bracket would fit in it. The problem was that the maximum open dimension is barely (we're taking less than 1/16")too small to accept the bracket, so I can't mount my camera on it in portrait orientation! Also, the second time I slung the case with tripod in it over my shoulder the strap ripped out of seam and the tripod crashed to the pavement. The case looks nice but it's apparently of terribly cheap make.

A nice tripod, but NOT as described

I purchased this tripod specifically for outdoor landscape and wildlife photography. The light weight appealed to me because I often do photoshoots in a wildlife refuge where motorized vehicles are prohibited, so I needes something lightweight to be carried on a mountain bike (along with a Nikon D800 and 28-300mm lens). Frist off, this tripod does NOT support 17 lbs. The BOX says it supports 13 lbs. Second, there are no retractable spikes in the feet. This is a major disappointment for outdoor photography. Beyond that, the tripod appears to me well made and easy to use. It came without any instructions, but aside from spending 30 minutes trying to extend non-existent spikes, no instructions are really needed.

Great tripod for my needs

I have a Panasonic DMC-GF3 and have been using it for landscape, portrait and night shots. I had a cheap tripod from a flee market which used to work fine but with night shots and long zoom lens it's too weak to support even during light wind. I received the Dolica early this week and have been playing with it at home. It performed excellent. Very stable during testing and the ballhead worked great. A great feature is being able to reverse mount the center pole so I can mount the camera upside down for some low ground shots. I was extremely pleased with it. However... The unit that came to me is imperfect. There are overcoated paints in a few area, chipped paints and scratches as well. Also one of the foam grip is damaged when I received it. I'm not sure if it is Dolica's QC failure or if I got the returned-resold unit. The nice folks at Adorama allowed me to ship it back and exchange for another unit. It's still on the way to them by UPS so I'm patiently waiting hoping the replacement unit will be perfect. Other than the little QC issues with my unit I still recommend it to everyone for the usability of it.

Upside down center post

The center post can be removed by unscrewing the bottom, and attached upside-down. This allows the camera to get close as possible to the ground level.

The Dolica ZX600B300 is a 60" Carbon Fiber Tripod ball head. Carbon fiber is an upgraded material that is known for its lightweightness, resistance to vibration and greater torsional stability compared to aluminum. With a max height of 60", the ZX600B300 is a suitable height for most people. The other unique feature is the Gitzo-style ball head.

The Dolica ZX600B300 ball head design offers a better balance compared to other ball head, thanks to its wide open ball base that offers wider tilt angles and less camera drift angle. The large ball head lock knob is also great for precise camera positioning. Other nice features include bubble level on the ball head and tripod.

Comfort foam grips also make it convenient for handling purposes. 3-angle leg locks allow for multi-angle tripod positioning. Lastly, included with every ZX600B300 is a padded nylon case for storage.
