If you want ideas on how to use flash heads creatively, then this DVD will be a great addition to your library. I refer to it to kick start my creative juices. David Honl makes use of small flashes, diffusers, gobos creatively. He also showed diagrams on how he lit the scenes.

I bought this product, to support David Honl, I use his products all the time, they are very useful and very reasonably priced. However his DVD, is probably what is going to soon become to subject of laughter among photographers and whomever seen this DVD. He spends less than a minute to take a photograph of a lady dressed up in the planet of apes costume. The quality of photo is really poor, the backdrop has more presence than the poor subject. Then he goes to shoot a dish. At this rate his actress wife kicks in and they spend more than 10 minutes teaching you how to cook this seafood dish and ultimately he spends 2 seconds shooting the dish (mate, you wasted 10 minutes of my time to show me less than a minute of photography). The same story repeated with shooting this D listed actor/guitar player whom David's wife co stared in a series called Babylon , who do I know this, because they spend another 15 minutes chatting about that. David, I bought this DVD to learn about photography not about your wife's acting career. Anyways, cut the story short, do not waste your money on this DVD. Buy anything that Joe Mcnally or Drew Gardner, Strobist, do, they will take you through the steps and they keep it very professional. Having said all of that, Honl should stick to making light shaping tools and leave the showbiz to his wife, Claudia.

The set ups were easy and quick, the people in it were likable and I learned to set up small flash lights with more confidence. I really liked the cooking segment because I am writing a cookbook and I would like to include photographs of my dishes, this taught me that making it look like a magazine cover is easy! There were a lot of different shoots and they were all really cool and diverse.
