Great Value

Decent output and recycling times, flimsy case. I had to add small pieces of cardboard to the battery compartment, as the batteries' contacts did not align properly with the flash's. If you're into tinkering and saving money, this flash is for you. Otherwise, there are better options out there (units that are better built, have extra features, etc...).

decent for non-proffesional photographer

from Texas  -  Casual Photographer

I got this flash as a Christmas gift and I have used it for casual photography like portraits and I have to say that it's better than I tought it was gonna be. The material looks a little cheap, but I'm pleased with the performance so far. I would really recommend it for the casual photographer.

Does not fit all makes of camera

from Houston TX  -  Casual Photographer

I was not aware that this would not fit the SONY Alpha camera I ordered it for. I had to buy an addition shoe to use it, but it works well for the price. Much better than the flash built into the camera.

Works every time

from norwalk, ct  -  Photo Enthusiast

I'm not good with flash, so I purchased this inexpensive flash to fool around with. It works everytime and some of my photos are decent. Still working on it.

works everytime

from norwalk, ct  -  Semi-pro Photographer

I don't usually take flash photos and this is my first hot shoe flash. In conjunction with some diffusers and a softbox ,I'm experimenting. So far the results are pleasing. The flash works everytime, but I have nothing to judge it against. If your just looking for something to have a little fun with, then this flash will do it.

Simple, inexpensive

from Lees Summit, MO  -  Photo Enthusiast

I seldom use auxiliary lighting, but needed a light, inexpensive flash for occasional projects where ambient light will be insufficient. Adequate for that purpose. Probably will not take much abuse, but otherwise satisfactory for my purposes. Settings appear to work quite well.

Not so much.......

from NJ  -  Photo Enthusiast

Mounted this to my Sony Alpha A200 using Seagull Alpha/Minolta hot shoe adapter. Flash fired twice then could not be "seen" by my camera as being connected and therefore fired. I have swapped and charged batteries, checked camera settings and tested another dedicated flash to rule out cam or battery faults. The fault may be in the adapter and I have a radio trigger on order so I will be able to pin point the failure. I will be updating post when I receive my Adorama brand radio trigger.

Nice flash for the price

from Dallas, TX  -  Photo Enthusiast

This flash has worked well so far, but I have not used it that much. It has missed/not fired on a couple of shots, but not enough to cause any major concern. This seems to be a good flash (especially considering the price).

Right Light -- Right Price

from Dover, NH  -  Photo Enthusiast

Much better than the flash units integrated into most point-and-shoot cameras. But awkwardly large and heave.

Questions about this item:

Robert V  Can I use this flash with a Nikon D5000?? Thanks..
Brendon B  You can use this flash off camera with a D5000, but you would need to turn it to manual and trigger it with your onboard flash.
Robert M  how much can you adjust the power? is it like a fully manual like 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, etc, or is it what I call semi auto, where you you select the mode and it decides how much power to give you.
AMELIA B  It seems to select the power itself...when it works...which isn't often. It's a piece of garbage unfortunately. Better off spending more and having a flash that is reliable.
Shopper  will this flash work with nikon d3100?
CHANTIE P  I have two cameras a Canon Rebel film and a Nikon D60 digital this flash works great with both. At first it was a bit confusing how to use the settings properly but once you figure it out the flash is one of the best i have used
