Good basic Bracket

The bracket seems very versatile and is light weight. The hot shoe clamp could be designed a little better though. The Clamp works OK, but the one side of the clamp that tightens down on the shoe of the light is a "V" and when tightened seems to make the light slightly tilted. Really not a big deal.

I purchased this to use with a Canon 40D and a Canon 580EX II. The first time I used it the arm holding the flash unit accidently flipped over and broke the shoe of the TTL cable which I had also just purchased. The flashed hit the floor which was carpeted so the fall didn't damage the flash unit. I was obviously not happy and uttered a few choice words as my photo shoot came to an abrupt end. The screw supporting the flip arm does not provide enough friction to prevent the arm from moving as you handle the camera and I had just tightened it prior to use but it did not hold. I hate having to repackage and send things back I just purchased, so I replaced the screw and added a wing nut and star washer which solved the problem and had to purchase another TTL cable. Adorama is a quality supplier and I am very suprised they sell a product such as this. I just read some other reviews stating the same problem so I am sure they are aware of it. I am annoyed that I purchased the product to save a few bucks. So my advice to anyone considering purchasing it is to save your money and buy a better quality product. This one is inferior.

Works great for me!

By

This bracket works great to get my microphone a bit further from the lens to avoid AF noise while filming. It is reasonably sturdy, and very versatile from what I've experienced. The weight is not cumbersome, and it attaches securely. I'm happy with it.

Seems like a great bracket

By

I read reviews where this bracket was loose and didn't hold the flash well. I found the bracket to hold my camera very secure, plenty of room even with a battery grip and the flash pivot seemed stiff and secure. I guess there is always a chance it may loosen up over time from opening and closing a thousand times, heck my eye glasses do that. But a simple tightening should take care of any problem. you can check out my review here; http://youtu.be/f-FUHHr36yY

Great deal !

By

It works great but, for some people it could be tricky since it does not give you heads up you need some sort of connection between the flash and the camera, whether is wireless or cable. That part was left out. I used wireless but I can see how some people may get it thinking is included. Otherwise is awesome !

Decent Bracket

By

Decent Bracket. I don't know when I'll really use it, but it seems very durable.

OK unit, minor quality concern

By

I use the bracket for PR assignments including portraits and like how it flexes for vertical and horizontal framing. The mounting screw broke off and I had to replace it. Use stronger hardware.

Don't buy it!!!

By

This lasted me about 3 hours!! After constantly flipping the bracket back and forth and tightening the set screw several times, it finally had enough and would not stay in place when I flipped it. I used a Canon 580 EX II flash so maybe if you had a smaller flash it might work.

Don't buy this bracket

By

Very poor design. Hard to keep a strobe mounted because it wabbles. Thin bracket with only a screw to change direction. Feels like you will loose the flash no matter how much you try to tighten (that takes time to do with iffy success). Peice of junk.

A real Dud !!!

By

Very flimsy construction. Mine didn't last me one month before it started to fail!! Constantly lowering and raising it weakened the joint and caused failure. Buy something else but not this.

Questions about this item:

donna jean m  what kind of pc cord do I use with this brackert and the nikon d610 with the sb700?
ELLEN B  I would suggest to call Nikon, I have a Pextax. Sorry I couldn't help...
Shopper  What cord do I need to attach the flash to the camera?
RON R  You will need a dedicated flash cord which allows the camera to control the flash or vice versa depending on the camera brand. This will allow you to use the camera/flash in automatic modes as well as manual.
Shopper  I see this is part of a deluxe kit that could be added to the Canon EX RT speed light. I'm curious to know how the speed light receives signals from the camera when mounted to this bracket that comes with all the other items in this kit without having to buy more stuff?
JAMES N  The canon kit should come with a flash extension (coild cord) . One end slides into the hot shoe on top of camera, the other end slides onto the bottom of the flash....... This means that the flash mounts to the cords shoe not the quick flip and the cords shoe mount to the quick flip then the wire runs down and attaches to the cameras shoe.
