After trying a competitor's very similar product, I tried this one. However, I found it to have the exact same problems. While the upper bracket tilt capability, telescoping capability, and the thumb trigger are nice, the entire bracket is awkward and heavy. The button to release the flip/rotate mechanism is located in an inconvenient area and is difficult to get to. The flip/rotate function uses a sliding mechanism which does not slide easily, even when lubricated. Also, the quality is poor. The rubber seats on the top bracket quickly lose their adhesiveness. For me, it was within one month on both this one and the competitor's product.

I bought this because the packaging stated that it was for the D70/D80 "and similar models." I incorrectly assumed that it would also work with the new D90 that I also bought on this order. Nikon changed their "single pin" connector to include GPS, and now the remote release does not fit. Remote release is necessary, because bracket hugs the right of the camera, and you can't easily fire the shutter while holding onto the bracket handle. Bracket is versatile, well made, and as advertised otherwise. Vertical and Horizontal positioning is easily switchable, almost too easy. It will not lock in one specific mode. I would recommend this to a D70/80 user who wants a flash bracket.
