Works like a charm!

If you're looking for an affordable way to spread natural light across your field of view, then this is the item you're looking for.I find this to be even more effective at creating a natural light for my indoor shots than bouncing the light from my 430EX II. That's because this causes the apparent light source to come from behind and above you, which usually looks more pleasing in a photo.I never have issues with red eye or wash-out. The sample images are very accurate compared to what I've achieved. I have the warm version and it does enhance skin tones, but without apparently coloring the rest of a setting. You do need to have a white or light-colored wall and ceiling to use this effectively, and because it is bouncing twice before it strikes your subject you have some light fall-off as your subject distance increases. To counter that, I just increase the flash output and it works incredibly well. That design element does limit your compositions somewhat since it won't work without a solid surface somewhere behind you.Its only downfall is the fact that it is bulky, and could break if just thrown carelessly in a bag with other things. But if you want great lighting for typical indoor settings and don't want to fork over 400 dollars (or more) for a speedlight, this is your solution.

About Professor Kobre's Lightscoop, Warm, for Sony DSLRs

Professor Kobre's Lightscoop, a bounce device for the pop-up flash on Sony DSLRs with interchangable lenses, slips over your camera's pop-up flash and allows you to bounce the flash like professionals bounce an expensive external flash. The Lightscoop is the inexpensive answer to natural-looking bounce flash and digital photography lighting. (Even professionals like it for casual shooting!) No more harsh shadows, bleached faces, red-eye, or cave effect from direct pop-up flash!

Reviewers tell the story:

"Bounce pop-up flash by snapping a Lightscoop over it, a little piece of plastic genius," Popular Photography, March 2008

"...just as if you had used one of those reflector umbrellas that the pros use," David Pogue, New York Times, "Circuits."

-- "It slips into your camera's hot shoe, fits right over the pop up flash, and redirects the camera's flash to a ceiling or wall. That's bounce, baby, bounce... as essential as a lens cap," DingbatMag, the monthly review of Cool Tools

"Your pop-up flash doesn't have to suck... I was stunned by the difference," Terry White's Tech Blog

The Warming Lightscoop has a gold-tinted mirror. Professionals often use a filter over the flash to achieve a warm effect when shooting portraits. Since filtering a pop-up flash reduces its power, the gold-tinted mirror warms yet still properly exposes pictures.
