DRF-14 Macro Ring Flash in Southeast AK

The fix, of course, was simple and did not result in down-time.

Never ever buy this flash unit

I received this flash in faulty condition. Sent emails to customer service at Adorama but no reply. I tried to show this unit at local repair service station. They say the IC of the electronic circuit is faulty. This is made in singapore flash unit. All plastic body. I regret for buying this unit from Adorama and I feel deceived.

sometimes you get what you pay for

After 7 months the unit is now having dark spots (uneven lighting) I bought this unit in the physical store, [...] getting it instead of a MR-14EX MR-24EX due to the price and it offered the same results as the mr-14ex, I've had my reservations due to the fact of missing some extras like modeling lamp which is very helpful when focusing with an mpe65mm in more than 2x with low light, now after 7 months the unit is not giving an even output and has dead spots, I know flashes might not many years specially under heavy use, but this unit was not abused, I wished I had spend the money on the Canon instead.

Not upto the expectations

By

from India  -  Semi-Professional

Does not work at all with my Nikon D 80. Tried everything possible to make it work. All cheap & plastic and thoughtless design. [*]. Does not fulfil any of my expectation. Finally I have to trash this flash unit. I feel that I wasted my time & money for buying this useless flash unit. Eventually I purchased Metz Mecablitz MS-15 Digital Ring Flash from Adorama. Ultimately I realised that cheap things are not good & good things are not cheap !

an affordable ringlight....finally

By

from Jacksonville, FL  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

I bought a Canon 60mm macro lens and wanted a lower-power ring light to use with it. While the Canon ringlight is wonderful, it is also an expensive item. This one works just fine for me with my Canon XT, XTi and Xsi bodies and is a third the price. The unit recycles fast and gives uniform illumination...it's easy to use...just screw it onto the lens and start shooting.

You got what you paid for

By

Very cheap construct, back panel already came off when I open the box, very cheap and poor construct in general, but it work so far. Severe Vignette when using 50mm lens which I have no problem before with the Sigma Macro flash, but the Sigma Macro flash die on me after 1 yr and 10 months of not very heavy use. So more expensive doesn't make it better. Praying for this thing to work for me for longer time.

Excellent value - a fraction of the price of its competitors that I know of. I use it for dental photos and it does the job well

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Nicolas A  Its works with the Nikon D3100 or D5000? I need something else?
ROBERT M  Yes. It does not flash; it is either continously on or off.
Shopper  Can I get a 77 mm adaptor with this ring flash?
Andrew R  Unfortunately no, 77mm would likely exceed the diameter of the opening. This Ring flash would likely be too small.
