Questions & Answers

GLENN K : Does this also work as a continuous light?CURTIS P : No, flash only.William B : No. It is a flash only. You can get a temporary modeling flash (rapid flashing) by pressing the Pv button on the right side of your Nikon camera body near the lens.
Shopper : Can I get a 77 mm adaptor with this ring flash?ANDREW R : Unfortunately no, 77mm would likely exceed the diameter of the opening. This Ring flash would likely be too small.
Nicolas A : Its works with the Nikon D3100 or D5000? I need something else?ROBERT M : Yes. It does not flash; it is either continously on or off.SANG K : I have D5000 and it works well. I am a dentist and I use this to take pictures of teeth inside of mouth. In low light condition, it still works quite well.GARY B : Probably though it depends on which lens you're using because this unit mounts using a filter adapter. Check the filter size which your lens uses against the list of adapters included with this unit.ANDREW R : This unit should work with most Nikon DSLR/SLR cameras with iTTL dedication.

As advertized

Nothing fancy but a basic ring flash which works fine with a reasonable price. I use it for dentistry, intraoral photos are well lit just have to remember to turn it off when done. Quickly loads a charge for use with fresh batteries.

DID NOT ORDER

I DID NOT ORDER THE BACKPACK OR THE 2 MACRO FLASHES. I ALREADY HAVE THEM. ALL I WANT ARE THE FILTERS.

Functional

Not too sturdy, but fine for intra-oral photography in the office.

DRF-14 Macro Ring Flash in Southeast AK

I use the ring flash for macro work in perennially dark Southeast Alaska...down close to the ground...usually prone with the camera on a sand bag or mounted on a mini-tripod. The unit has functioned faithfully! There has been only one technical problem - something that might trouble other users. I backpack the unit over long distances. Considerable force is placed on the equipment. One way occasion the batteries flattened the metal contacts at the bottom of the battery wells and the flash ceased functioning. The fix, of course, was simple and did not result in down-time.

Great general use macro flash.

I use this for photographing insects, flowers, and other invertebrates in nature.

an affordable ringlight....finally

I bought a Canon 60mm macro lens and wanted a lower-power ring light to use with it. While the Canon ringlight is wonderful, it is also an expensive item. This one works just fine for me with my Canon XT, XTi and Xsi bodies and is a third the price. The unit recycles fast and gives uniform illumination...it's easy to use...just screw it onto the lens and start shooting.

You got what you paid for

Very cheap construct, back panel already came off when I open the box, very cheap and poor construct in general, but it work so far. Severe Vignette when using 50mm lens which I have no problem before with the Sigma Macro flash, but the Sigma Macro flash die on me after 1 yr and 10 months of not very heavy use. So more expensive doesn't make it better. Praying for this thing to work for me for longer time.

Works well for me

Excellent value - a fraction of the price of its competitors that I know of. I use it for dental photos and it does the job well
