This is solidly built, it hood my Streaklight 360 securely as well as my medium sized softbox. There is no play in the base when clamped to a lightstand. My only complaints are that the fore and aft adjustment knob can be difficult to turn with a flash attached to the shoe. Also as I believe others mentioned, it doesn't hold my softbox perfectly straight, though close enough. There doesn't seem to be any way to adjust it, which is frustrating. In the end though, it's hard to complain much for the price

This Flashpoint Softbox Adapter is perfect for those times when a speedlight will be all the light you need for a subject or setting, It's solid construction can handle the weight of any speedlight, remote controller and a large softbox. it's become a permanent component in my lighting kit for my on location shoots where I need to control the light.

I use this mount all the time. It is easy to use. I switched out the mounting foot for a locking one. It is a bit heavy so you'll need a decent stand for it.

I have a Paul C Buff 35" octabox and I use it with speedlights for portraits/wedding reception photos, trying to avoid bulky studio/monolights. I have another brand's SpeedPro S adapter (made of hardened plastic) that works pretty well with one speedlight and the octabox. Recently I came up with a DIY modification on my octabox that now enables me to use 3 speedlights inside the octabox. Because the combined weight of 3 speedights and a wireless receiver is considerable, I can no longer rely on the hardened plastic adapter even if I use 2 speedlights. This adapter, being metal construction, looked good with whatever reviews were available. One issue that bothered me while ordering was that the flash would hang horizontally on it's foot (I had planned to tape a sponge on the bar for the speedlight to rest on). The package arrived today and to my surprise (in a good way) it looked a little different from what is shown in the picture. It has a height adjustable base near the ring where your flash can rest, so it does not hang on it's foot! Something like the Cheetah Speed Pro Bracket Mark II. The Cheetah product comes at $80! The ratcheting knob when tightened even lightly keeps the octabox in position even with 2 speedlights and the octabox on it. When tightened properly, I was not able to change the position of the octabox even when I pulled the bar up and down from the other end with force. Entire construction is metal and the spring lock is pretty good too. Extremely happy with the product! If you are looking for a speedlight adapter that will allow the use of your speedlight with a bowens mount flash modifier, this is the one to get...

With all of the light modifiers I have available from our monolights, this was the perfect way for me to use them with small flash, affordably. The Flashpoint bracket is well-crafted and handles large softboxes and beauty dishes with ease, whether on light stand or boom. This also allows me to use very large apertures both in studio and on location to produce the quality of light I want while maintaining a very shallow depth of field. I'll be adding a few more of these to our gear list soon!

I have used this item several dozen times already in differing situations and locations. I travel alot and this unit is very compact and easy to use so it goes with me most of the time. I was very surprised at the units construction as it is much more durable then the price would have led me to think and because of this I bought two just in case of durability concerns. Now I have two useful and dependable brackets.

I bought a couple of these with some small, lightweight softboxes to make up a lightweight location kit (one bag, etc). I also bought the Flashpoint Nano stands (identical to the Manfrotto Nano and 30% cheaper. One thing to note, if you happen to have some of Adorama's JTL series hot lights, those speedring mounts are identical to Bowens' so you can use those rings with this bracket instead of buying a new Bowens one. It has solid connections to both the stand and speed ring/softbox; perfect for quick set-up location work; you can use the flash horizontally or vertically, you don't have to use the smaller L bracket as shown...depends on size of the flash etc. I tested mine with both the Canon 550EX and 580EX (their largest) and they fit just fine. Note that the size of the ring prohibits using more than one flash for those of you that use multi-flashes on larger boxes.

For the price it can not be beat. It is all metal except the knobs. Attach modifier easily. One big weakness is that your flash is hanging horizontally, putting all weight on its hotshoe. There shoulbe be a support in the middle. However that is easily done by yourself.

Good sturdy construction and mounts my speedlights to my Bowens speedrings and softboxes. Much better construction than I expected for the cost.

I purchased this not sure what to expect in quality based on the price. I've seen competitor brands go for 2 to 3 times as much. What I received was an unexpected bargain. It's an extremely well built VERY STURDY all metal bracket. The tilt adjustment is metal and is a teethed/ratchet setup so it holds heavier modifiers with no problem. I've mounted my 5 ft octa on it and it doesn't creep or slip at all. There's no problem holding my all metal beauty dish with grid installed. I have several brands of Bowen's S speed rings and it fits and holds everyone of them with absolutely no issues including my 7" Bowen's mount mono light reflectors (various brands also). I'm ordering a second one I'm that satisfied with it.

I needed something that allowed me to use my studio light accessories with my speedlights for location work. I was skeptical about this, but the price was cheap enough to check it out. This thing is built VERY well and can be knocked down for packing. GET ONE OR TWO OR THREE!
