The Feisol CB-50D Ball Head offers one of the most innovative locking systems- the dual-caliper locking mechanism. This unique method features two locking systems - one to lock the ball head sphere, the other to lock the base plate for even greater stability. This allows for the added capability of rotating the base plate while maintaining a locked sphere. It is designed especially for Feisol's Tournament Class Tripods, the ball head knobs of the CB-50D will not touch the tripod's leg tubes in its reverse folding position.

This is my second ball head. I wanted a mix between weight and the control you are supposed to get from a larger ball. The Good: When you lock it down, it does not move. The Bad: When you are using with a little drag for very small adjustments, you can feel exactly where all the holes were drilled for weight relief. As you moved it around there are just little catches that you feel. If you adjust enough drag to let you just nudge it and hold it will catch on the these spots. If you loosen it enough to not catch them, if will just flop.
Recently, I had been looking for a new tripod and head. With a heavier camera I was looking for something very sturdy, portable, and affordable. This head met all those requirements. The camera attaches firmly, and combined with Feisol 3402 tripod it's a very sturdy combination. I have yet to find anything about this head that I don't like.
