I always use ASA 400 film, for my shots it provides great color slides. I buy the film at Adorama because the price is competitive and the shipping is free! A good place to shop.

Color rendition and contrast are good. However, the lack of sharpness is unsatifactory. Probably will not use again.

I take a lot of urban night shots but have grown tired of dragging a tripod around town. According to various Internet know-it-alls, Provia 400 pushed a stop or two was my best bet for handheld street photography, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I took it out for a walk one winter night with a fast prime lens. But I didn't have high expectations since I figured I'd need to push it two stops. and expected it would be grainy with muddy colors. I sent it off to the lab and forgot about it and then--what's this? Are these moody, sultry stills from a Wong Kar Wai film? No, in fact. The grain was there, but not unpleasant. Everything was velvety and textured, with a wide color range. My goal with photography is to render everyday scenes into something dream-like and magical, and that's what this did. The great tragedy is that I thought it would be a throwaway roll, so I didn't bother to put a lot of effort into composing my shots for what I considered an experiment. So I haven't bothered to scan any of that roll to see how it fares when digitized. I also used another roll to shoot a parade on an overcast (but still kind of bright) day. I'll stick to velvia and astia 100's in the future for that sort of thing, as I found the results dull and didn't like the set of exposure settings I was confined to with the higher ISO. But I can't wait to take this out at night again when I'm ready to put some thought into my shots.

I use this for action shooting and also for low light street photography.

It has relatively low grain with accurate colors. It is contrasty, but not as bad as Velvia. I have pushed it with success. It scans well with my Coolscan V. I only wish it wasn't so expensive!

Great colors and grain for the speed. I have pushed it one stop with good results.

I took four rolls on my trip to Taiwan. Images burned great even under low light, e.g., dimly lit temples, outdoor markets at night, etc. Two or three of the scanned slides (done by a local lab) were poor; but, the slides themselves look superb on my lightbox. Conclusion...this chrome is a lot of fun.

Wonderful film that I would use over and over again. The slides were crisp and beautiful and bright, indoor and outdoor. Handles flash photography well. I have no complaints about this at all.

Provia 400X provides much more contrast than its predecessor, Provia 400F. The better grain characteristics do make images clearer, however, the most visible differences/improvements are the warmer colors and higher contrast.

Improved color tones and grain characters make it a far superior choice over its predecessor.

The color and grain characters of this film make it a superior successor to its predecessor (Fuji Provia RVP 400).

I have been using Velvia for years, however, Velvia is quite contrasty. Under bright sunlight, the shadow area loses details. Shady area also has a blue cast. Provia 400x solves these problems. The price you pay is the slight increase in grain size, an acceptable trade off in my book.
